Comedies should be comical!
I hate it when I see commercials for a comedy, and then when I see the movie all of the funny parts are given away in the commercial. Uhh... what was the point of watching that movie? I could just see the funny parts for free on YouTube. The entire time I'm watching the movie, I want to laugh because what I'm seeing is funny, but I've seen it all so many times before! What are the commercials supposed to have in them then, Jephthah? Oh, umm... I don't know. I guess they could just pick the parts that are a little funny, but not the funniest parts. But that will make people think it isn't a funny movie. Well, tough! Maybe people will see it anyway, and the word will get out that it is a funny movie. Eh? EH? That's what I think. It's just so lame when I go to a movie expecting to be entertained, but instead I'm annoyed.
I guess something else the movies could try is having more than 3 or 4 funny parts in them. That way it wouldn't matter if you gave away those parts because there would be loads more! I guess having loads of funny parts is what makes the good comedy. I just think that some movies might be more successful if the commercials were better. It sounds silly, and it might be, but maybe the commercials are a bigger factor than people think they are.
That's why I try to avoid spoilers and commercials for movies and TV shows so I can view them how they were intending to be viewed. Usually it makes the experience more enjoyable. But, I can't always know what movies I'm going to like and dislike. I have to judge everything by their commercials! It's a never ending cycle!
All I want is to walk into a comedy and see all of the funny parts for the first time. That doesn't seem like too much to ask.
