How are you?
Almost every day I go through the same conversation with random people. I'm walking down the hall and I see someone that I vaguely recognize and they smile and say, "How are you?" right as I'm passing by. "Good." Though, by the time I got it out, they were already by me. Did they care how I really was? Of course not. Was I really doing "good?" Of course not, because I don't do good. I do well. But even if I'm not doing well, I say "good" back just to make it short and sweet.
So, what's the point of these dumb conversations? They get nothing done except show that the other person recognized that you are a human being and attempted to be polite. Well, I think it's annoying. Sometimes when I've had a really crappy day and someone looks at me with a huge grin and asks me how I am, I just want to smack them and yell, "Terrible! How about you?!" But, no. They don't want to hear that. They, along with the rest of the world, expect a "good" or something similar. It's dumb.
Maybe one day I'll have a real conversation about how someone's doing.
