With the growing popularity of the internet and people wanting to make money, there are more and more advertisments that we common folk must endure online. I can deal with them. I normally don't even pay attention to them anymore, unless it's a fun little game that I can purposely lose and not get redirected to their website... but that's a different story. What I can't ignore is a freakin' ad that talks to me. "Congratulations. You have won two new iPods." What the cravitz? Where is that voice coming from and how did I win iPods without doing anything at all? Stop the voice! Where is it? "Congratulations. You have won two new iPods." Oh my gosh! It's in a loop! Please, make it stop! Oh, it must be that ad. I don't see any place to make the sound st--"Congratulations. You have won--" Close window. I was getting desperate.
What the heck? We already have to ignore the flashing ads, but now they talk to us! There's no way to make it not talk initially when we come to a page. It really isn't a way to get me to click on the ad. If anything, I'll add whatever it's advertising to my bad list. Then I'll commit myself to never do anything for that company ever again.
In your face.
EDIT: I just came across a new style of advertising: Pay-Per-Play. Basically the webmaster puts some code in their website that will play an audio clip every three minutes with no way to make it stop, and they'll get paid 1 cent for each play. Umm... no. That's all I have to say about that. Dumb idea.
