7.05 - Action
I wasn't sure what to expect from an episode called "Action." Okay... so this week there'll be action in Smallville. What kind of action? Oh! It's action like a movie. Clever. I'm not sure how Hollywood found Smallville and decided that it would be a good place to shoot, or how they got the idea to ask Clark if they could film on his farm. Why don't people randomly call me up and ask if a multi-million dollar production movie can be shot at my house? Oh, right. My life isn't a TV show. Shucks.
I thought it was great that a major part of the storyline was a crazed blogger and forum poster. LOL! It's in my world! I could just see it... "Well, there's a poster that's really getting into the show. Her name is ...J-E-P-H-T-H-A-H... we better watch out for her. It looks like she's lost her mind." Yeah, Jephthah. That was really funny. Nice try. Psh. See? This is why they would print out a screenshot of my website high quality on some nice Kodak paper. To waste paper, ink, and develop a lame plot about a crazed fan. No, this wasn't a lame plot. It was actually very interesting. Does a hero have to be in solitude to truly fulfill his role as hero? It doesn't seem like it has to be that way. All of the hero movies and TV shows seem to have that same idea, though. Though, there was the Adventures of Lois and Clark. I never watched that show. It sounds interesting. Anyhow, getting off topic. What's new? Oh, right. This episode. Interesting thought. Maybe if Lana was freaking honest to Clark like Clark is finally being honest with her, then it could work out just fine. Blech... no, Jephthah. I'll ramble about Lana later.
What else... Chloe! Aww, Chloe. She wanted to sneak a peek (rhyming rocks) at Jimmy's myspace! Aww... though, it's a little strange that he uses myspace. Has anyone heard of the superiority of facebook? Perhaps. I guess more of the audience could relate to Jimmy having a myspace since it applies to a larger age group. Ugh! What a dumb tangent! What am I talking about? Jimmy. Right. I thought it was funny that Chloe told Rachel that someone "jimmied" her accelerator. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I'd like to think not. *sigh* It seems like we are seeing less of Jimmy in this season than last season, and this season he's actually in the opening credits. Funny. Last season I didn't like seeing Jimmy because he took Chloe away from Clark, but I've come to like him. Speaking of opening credits... where has Kara gone off to? I suppose that's for another episode storyline. Perhaps next week? I don't know. (Remember, I avoid previews like the plague. I like to be surprised as much as possible.) Clark needs someone to show him up by flying around.
Lionel! We finally found him! He's also in the opening credits. (Good job, Jephthah. All of the main characters are in the credits. Dumb.) Holy pain on so many sticks when he was taking off the trap thing! That... ugh! So much pain! It reminded me of Zod when Lana had to pull the rod out of her hand so she could escape. Hmm... I never made that connection before. Lana has become as bad as Zod was in the beginning of season 6, while she was still innocent. Tsk. Tsk. Though, Lionel's expression made it look a lot more painful, and it took a lot longer to get off... *shivers* I'll stop typing about that. It's painful. Anyhow! We found him, and it seems like he's gotten back more of his evil. He was killing Merilyn... a lot. So much blood got on him! And that sound that he kept making was disgusting. *shivers some more* It reminded me of Onyx back in season 4 when Lex had to bring out the evil Lionel. This time, it was Lana. In a sense. At the end he still seemed to be his good but still somewhat evil self. He didn't seem as angry as you would expect when he confronted Lana. "I heard you were being held captive by a crazy woman." "Indeed I was... you." That was flipping sweet. Though, Lana pulled a Lex and completely denied the entire thing. Dumb, Lana. What do you expect would come of that? He obviously knows it was you. Some mysterious Luthor bought land, and it definitely wasn't Lionel and Lex is denying it. It was you.
Okay, Lana rambling time. (There always seems to be Lana rambling time in my ramblings.) What the freaking cravitz are you doing Lana? What. The. Heck. All of that talk about not keeping secrets and Clark not hiding who he really is... he finally is doing everything that you've wanted him to, and now you are hiding your true evil self. Well, not quite evil, just very angry. I mean, I would be to, but I wouldn't have the nerve to do what she's done. How did she find this Merilyn girl anyway? How did she convince her to keep Lionel hostage? Well, duh, Jephthah. Money. Yeah, but... there seemed to be something more. It seemed like the Luthors had hurt her in some way, and she got to have some retribution of her own by keeping him hostage. I doubt they'll expand upon it, but I'll make myself happy by having a backstory for her. *nod* Sure.
Anyhow, so Lana Lang. It is now blatantly obvious that the writers are neglecting to have Clark and Lana kiss. Why? Perhaps it's because of Lana being all secretive and such. Though, she was the one that suggesting... suggestive things at least twice in this episode. "I can think of a better way to burn calories." [Clark laughs awkwardly.] "I hope Clark saves some of those lines to rehearse with me later." [Clark looks at Lana with a mischeivous grin.] LOL... that reminds me of something hilarious from this episode. After Clark gives his mischeivous grin and he and Lana gaze into each other's eyes to make it incredibly awkward for Rachel, Rachel decides to go to the kitchen and have some "cookies and whole milk." What the heck? I mean, that sounds delicious, but why? Not only that, but she walked the wrong way out of the barn. She walked towards the window. Oops. It was also funny how much Rachel was getting into Clark! I mean, she was rehearsing those lines with him so she could kiss him. Her expression after she said, "It's okay. It's part of the scene" was awesome. Though Rachel, if Clark won't kiss Lana, I seriously doubt that you have any chance. There were at least three times that you would have expected Lana and Clark to kiss but they just didn't. Even when Clark saved Lana from falling to her death, they gazed into each other's eyes and just leaned in and touched noses. I don't understand. I mean, I do like their relationship not being all physical like it seemed to be in previous seasons... but nothing at all? Something is wrong. Oh, right. Lana is a freaking liar and is leading a double life. Clark is bound to find out. Just like Lana was bound to find out about what Lex was up to with her fake baby. Lana, do you learn? You are going to hurt Clark in the end. :( Sad. What's even sadder is that Clark is giving up his destiny to save the world for Lana, and she doesn't seem to care. Like at the end when he told Lana that he wasn't going anywhere and that he finally had everything that he ever wanted being with her on the farm, she just looked at him and said, "Okay." That's great, Clark. I'm just going to walk this way now. *shakes head at Lana* I don't even know who you are anymore! Sad, again. The ending was even all symbolic with Clark giving his destiny to the front fence to go be with Lana. Go, fence, go! Fly away to your destiny!
Speaking of saving Lana from falling to her death... what an incredibly tall building. I calculuated it (because I'm a nerd) and Lana was falling for 17 seconds from when she was pushed off the building and when her and Clark landed on the car. If they were going a constant accleration the entire time, then the building was 5776 feet tall. That is over a mile. A mile tall building! That is architectually impossible. But, Jephthah, they slowed down a little bit at the end! (Hinting at Clark flying... excitement.) Okay, if you factor that in then the building is only 3000 or 4000 feet tall. (Being very generous.) Then it's only about twice the height of the tallest building in the world. *shakes head* Not to mention the fact that Lana was about to reach the ground before Clark flew (arguably) down and caught her and then they somehow were falling for a really long time just staring at each other. Then they decided that they should land on a car just for the fun of it. I mean, before that they had only blown up one car in that episode! That's just unacceptable for Smallville. Though, my question is how nobody saw Clark fall down. I mean, I could maybe see it if he had landed on the concrete, but landing on a car and completely crushing it is kind of a giveaway. I feel sorry for the person that owned that car. They just leave for a couple minutes and come back to find their car crushed with human footprints on top. What the cravitz? They'll have to accept that Smallville had to fulfill their car destructions for the episodes. Tough break.
Oh, Lois! She is becoming the Lois Lane that we all have known! She is getting so passionate about her stories and her editor thinks so highly of her! Even if he was upset about her going for the Luthor story. It was kind of funny when I first saw her sneak into Lex's/Lionel's office. I didn't recognize who it was at first. Then when she said, "I'm really good at this" I finally caught on. I thought that Lex controlled himself nicely for just finding someone sneaking around his office trying to find his secrets. Then Lois, conveniently enough, decided to tell him everything she had found on him to propel the storyline forward. Kudos, Lois!
So, Warrior Angel. We haven't heard too much about it in a while. I thought it was hilarious that Lex says he's not a fan anymore... and then he walks over and opens this drawer filled with Warrior Angel comics. Then, he decided to give his rare copies to this crazed fan. (Holy cravitz, that is really cool for the crazed fan.) Though, I couldn't help but laugh when Lex completely got denied again from someone talking about Clark's secret. Not only from people that know Clark, but just from random people he would expect to talk freely about it. Like in Hypnotic back in season 5 and Simone. I thought for sure she would out Clark, but no. Denied yet again, Lex. Though, that made sense because she wanted Clark for herself. And I suppose it makes sense in this episode too because the fan knows that Clark has a greater destiny and telling Lex would probably change that. Good call, pyscho. Well, he wasn't a complete psycho. He did have some good reasons for wanting to kill Lana, it's just not exactly humane. You kill off hero's girlfriends in fictional stories like comic books, not in real life. Thus why he ended up in Belle Reve.
Okay, that'll be all for now. On to next Thursday!
