Smallville Ramblings

7.20 - Arctic

So, season 7 finale. Of course they had to leave us in suspense and have something threatening the entire world while everyone else's lives are being ruined in one way or another. Clark is being controlled by Lex, Lex now knows Clark's secret and has fully embraced being evil while thinking that he's doing the world a favor, Kara is trapped in the Phantom Zone, Edward Teague is dead, Chloe is in prison, Jimmy is suffering the consequences of making a deal with Lex, Lana left Clark (for good, it seems) so he can fulfill his destiny or whatever, and Lois... well, Lois seems to be doing fine, actually. Good for her. She was just Clark's headrest after Lana broke up with him. Hopefully a sign of things to come. *crosses fingers* Anyhow... to get away from that ridiculously long sentence, let's move on to a new paragraph where I'll feel free to ramble more specifically.

Brainiac sure knows how to screw everything up. He's the one who pushed Lex to think that he's doing the world a favor by controlling Clark. Which... what does he intend on doing with him? If he really thinks he's saving the world, it doesn't seem like he would make Clark do something to kill everyone. That seems just a tad contradictory. Though, I'm sure he'd find some dumb reason to justify destroying something. Eh... I don't know. Maybe he'll just make Clark kill himself with Kryptonite or something. If he even knows that Kryptonite would kill him. Well, if he remembers back to the season finale of season 5 when Lana told Lex about "their home being their only poison" when he tried to kill Brainiac with it. He should be able to remember that. Hm, bad news. So if he did try to get Clark to kill himself, it's kind of Lana's fault. She was the one who told Lex. Go ahead Lana, kill yourself. It's all your fault. While you're alive it ruins Clark's life anyway. He needs a reason to finally move past you and move on to Lois or Chloe. Seriously.

Interesting. That paragraph was supposed to be about Brainiac, but I kind of went off on a tangent. So, let's try again. Brainiac knows how to screw everything up. He makes Lex think that he's saving the world, and he throws Kara in the Phantom Zone. I have no idea how she's going to get out of that one. Clark somehow managed to get out by there magically being a portal for House of El peeps. Well... Kara is part of the House of El, right? Zor-El is her dad... maybe that'll do something. Or maybe it's just direct family. Hmph. That'll be interesting to see. We know that she can't be trapped up there forever... then this whole season of introducing her and having her in the credits would kind of be a waste. So, we'll have to see. Cravitz. Brainiac. Right. So, Brainiac also gave Lana the excuse to break up with Clark. She was able to get away and make the video without actually breaking up with him in person. Which, speaking of Lana breaking up with Clark: holy sadness on a huge stick! That was so freaking depressing to watch! Clark was completely heartbroken. I should have seen it coming. They've built up to it for a while now. "When I hold Lana's hand again..." So sad! I just want to see him hold her hand and give her one of those nice hugs of his! Aww... just one more time. Please! Oh well, at least Lois got a good hug out of him. She conveniently popped up at the right time to give him some comfort.

Oh yeah! Lois mentioned Clark getting a job at the Daily Planet. Making our way back to the original Superman storyline! I'm betting he'll have a job there sometime next season. And somehow Lex won't be the owner anymore and Chloe will have her job back. And Jimmy will have tragically died somehow... no... he can stay with Chloe and they can get married. As long as Clark ends up with Lois. Yes, it'll all work out with Lois. :) I'm really looking forward to seeing some real Clois when neither of them are on Red Kryptonite or anything. You know, like holding hands and actually looking like a couple because they want to. I really think it would be cute to see them together.

Goodness gracious. I still haven't really gotten into Brainiac much yet. He just ruins everything and doesn't seem to ever really die. Did he actually die this time? It's a good thing that he tried (and succeeded) to take over Chloe like he did Lana, and Chloe's ability drained him or whatnot. Though, I'm wondering how Clark even found Brainiac. He just kind of showed up. I guess we're supposed to assume that he checked some power grid and saw that this place was being drained of power. Sure. I'll take it. What else did he do? Oh yeah! He freaking gave away Clark and Kara's secret! I'm sure Lex would've figured it out by himself anyway with the "device," but Brainiac sure did push it along. "I'm from the same planet as the Traveler." Oh my gosh! I just remembered! When Brainiac (as Kara) showed Lex that she was alien by shooting fire from her eyes, he looked at her and said, "The dam!" I totally did not hear the word "the" the first time. LOL! That would be along the same line of my thoughts if I saw something like that in real life.

Aww... poor Jimmy. He gets the guts to propose to Chloe, and then she gets arrested. He was so adorable before they took her, though! Tripping over the chair, using a plastic engagement ring they had at the hospital. Aww... such a nice guy. "Maybe I'll just get you some bottled water or some tap water or... I know. Some sparkling! I--because, you know, it matches your smile." So sweet! I'm sure he wasn't too appreciative of the fact that when she was being arrested that she yelled out for Jimmy to get Clark. Yeah, he just proposed to her and she yells for Clark. Eh, he didn't seem to care too much. He was willing to do anything to get her back. I'm thinking there won't be too much that comes from the proposal, though. I think that somehow Chloe is going to be busted out of prison and they'll be an awkward scene between her and Jimmy, and they'll agree to just ignore that it happened and move on. You know, kind of reminiscent of the scene between her and Clark in the premiere of season 6. I was so looking forward to seeing some Chlark happen, and then Chloe just brushed it aside and Clark went along with it. Blech. What jerkfaces. I'll try to keep my hopes up that maybe they'll actually get engaged sometime next season. That'd be so freakin' adorable.

Okay, so back to Brainiac. His plan kind of backfired on him. "The only way to save them would be to kill me now in cold blood." Good one. Now Clark knows exactly what to do to get what he wants, and he can very easily. "...which goes against everything you stand for." Eh? Eh? Please don't do it? "You're not human. You're a machine!" Then Clark gets this little evil smirk and BAM! Brainiac is dead. Way to go. Though, Clark probably would've killed him anyway, but Brainiac just made it that much easier to let Clark know that what he was about to do and wanted to do, was exactly what he needed to do to get back Chloe and Lana. No problem man! GONE. It was kind of funny. To me.

So I guess that "device" thing that Lex had would repel Clark somehow? He was acting like if he got close it was starting to hurt him. If not, it sure seems like he could've just supersped and grabbed it away from him. I'm anxious to see what exactly happens with all of that. It'd be pretty awesome if it was anything like the Imperious Curse in Harry Potter. If Clark was just able to fight it somehow like Harry did... yeah, that'd be sweet. I'll guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Back to Lex controlling Clark. Now that I see the ending again, it looks like he might be making Clark stay right where he is so the fortress crashes on him and kills him? Maybe? But Lex was there with him. I don't get it. How did him putting that device there cause the fortress to start collapsing in the first place? I don't know. I don't get it. Hopefully we'll get some sort of explanation. We all know that Clark didn't die and he won't. Or if he does, he'll come back to life. We can't have a season 8 without Clark. It just wouldn't happen.

So, I guess now it's just a waiting game until season 8 to see how everything is resolved. Let's hope it's not too lame.
