Smallville Ramblings

8.08 - Bloodline

So many things in this episode! So many exciting things to ramble about that were surprisingly nicely fit into one episode without feeling too rushed or confused. Way to go Smallville! We've got the crystal mysteriously back, many fantastic Clois moments, Kara finally got mentioned, Davis's character is starting to make more sense, and Chloe is... I'm not sure. Oh my goodness, and that's just the beginning. Let's see where my lovely mind wanders this time!

To start out, I think this was one of the best opening scenes I could've asked for. I've really only been excited about what happens with Clois lately, so to have a scene where Lois informs Clark that she's moving in--whoa! Yeah! I'm disappointed that it didn't end up staying that way because I'm sure that would've been so entertaining to watch. If Lois really did see Clark in his Snoopy boxers... oh man, that's hilarious. Then, if that wasn't enough... they end up showing both Clark and Lois getting trapped in the Phantom Zone! That could only lead to more Clois moments and maybe a way to tell Lois his secret. And of course, that means we finally get to see Kara. Oh man, I was so psyched for the rest of the episode when I saw that... and it was filled with a lovely amount of Clois along with some other interesting moments. Aww, it's all so great. Seriously, these episodes are so good. The writer's are really getting it down. I hope that somehow Smallville could manage going 9 seasons... doubtful. We were lucky to get this 8th season. It's probably good that it'll end... then I'll actually do my homework Thursday nights and be more focused. Oh well. It's all fun.

As awesome as it was to see Clark back in the Phantom Zone and everything, how on earth did that crystal make them go to the Phantom Zone? Last time I checked it just made the fortress... that really makes me wonder. Who sent it to them? My guess is Lex... somehow. Well, I'm not sure. Who stole it in the first place? Does this all link back to that e-mail that Tess got? I guess it does. Who the heck is it? How did they change the crystal to send Clark to the Phantom Zone? I guess that means it's someone who would want Clark in the Phantom Zone... I'm thinking Lex. Lex is still adamant that Clark is going to destroy the world. If he found out that he had his powers back, it makes sense that he would want him to go away to the Phantom Zone. It just conveniently worked out that Kara was also in the Phantom Zone so he could end up saving her while taking Lois along for the ride.

I'm really wondering about Lois and Clark. (surprise) I mean, is Clark seriously considering telling Lois his secret? Is he going to finally admit that he loves Lois too and that they should get married? Okay, maybe that's a bit too far. But, him telling her his secret sure seems like a way to admit that he has feelings for her. Though, what I'm wondering is why Kara thinks that Lois could handle it and that Clark seemed to agree to an extent. We obviously saw that she wouldn't take it very well at all. When she found out about Oliver, she ended up breaking up with him because she knew that his destiny was greater than her. Oliver is a step below what Clark can do! Clark saw her reaction to that... you'd think he'd remember. Well, if he does end up telling her, I really hope it makes it all work out and she doesn't freak. Though, we all know that things don't work out perfectly. Something always goes wrong. No! Well, I'm looking forward to this scene I'm assuming will happen when Clark tells Lois his secret. Oh my gosh! I'm so excited!

We finally get to see Kara. Yay! It's a good thing that she's leaving Smallville, though. You'd think that'd make Lois just a little suspicious that Kara just popped back up right after she had this "hallucination" where she saw Kara trapped in the Phantom Zone with them. How would Clark explain how and where she came back from? Though, it does make me sad that she's not going to be coming back regularly. I really liked Kara. We'll probably see her later. I hope so.

Lois had so many lines that just cracked me up! First of all, it was just funny to hear her keep saying that they had been abducted by aliens. I mean, that just sounds so crazy! I'm not sure I could have said that line without just cracking up. Though, Lois pulled it off nicely. It would be the only semi-logical solution to what happened. I'm not sure how touching a crystal would lead to an alien abduction, but how would you really know how you get abducted? People just guess that you get sucked up by a UFO. Yes, I'd probably think the same thing if I were in Lois's position. Another line that cracked me up was, "Lois can't hear you!" LOL, I really wish I could just tell that to people when they try to talk to me. "Jephthah can't hear you!!" That would be another line I don't think I could say with a straight face. So funny! Then, of course, there was the line at the end when Clark asked why she would get a raise and her response was, "Because I'm me, hello!" Then Clark just responds with, "Right, but..." That's awesome.

Davis... apparently he's Zod's son. That's bad news. Now he's invulnerable too? I don't get him. He gets stabbed by a pole, and when he wakes up from his death, he's reborn as this new guy with abilities? Or maybe he's more the person he is whenever he has a blackout? I want to know what he's like when he goes into these blackouts. Is he still him or does he look like some shadow monster or something? I guess he moves really fast so people wouldn't really know anyway. How does he crush their bones? So many questions! At least we got some answers as to where he came from and why he's an important character. I'm just not sure where it's all going to go from here. Is he going to be a bad person now? I don't get it! Chloe, help! Hmph. Why did they put this tension between him and Chloe anyway? That just complicates things, and now we find out that he's freakin' Zod's son. Bad news.

Erica did a great job playing Lois as Zod's wife. She looked so much older! I really believed that she was somebody else. That reminds me of something else awesome: "You have feelings for this creature I inhabit." That's another line that cracks me up. Just the fact that she called Lois a creature that she's inhabiting. But, other than that, it's awesome! Clark totally didn't deny it either. Maybe that's when he realized that he really does have feelings for her. Maybe. Though, it sure seems like he would have realized it before then with all these things that happen with him and Lois. Like when he gets asked if he loves her and whatnot. Oh! When Clark first finds posessed Lois her first comment to him is, "You're too late, Kal-El." I didn't think of this the first time, but that's totally reminiscent of Lana when Clark sees her Brainiac-infected. You could totally see him remember that when Lois said that, too. "Nooo!! I lost another person that I love because of this silly heritage of mine!" But then he gets all stern and grabs her. "No, I'm not freakin' late!" Man, it's so awesome!

Tess is starting to realize that Clark is more linked to Lex that she maybe thought before. The same shoe print was found in the Arctic that matches Clark's shoes. Hm. It's not enough to prove anything, but it's enough to get Tess's thought process to be looking at Clark's every move and to try to get something from him. What's funny is that Clark has just as big of an idea of where Lex is than anyone else. It's just too bad that him being near him and everything is making people suspicious. Sad. I'm really wondering how much Tess is going to find on Clark. Is she going to end up knowing about Clark by the end of the season and like work with Lex to bring him down? I don't know. I like her character, actually. She's got the evilness down just like Lex, but yet she's different. She's showing her evil side more lately, but I really see some good in her too. I guess it reminds me of Lex... it's just been a while since we had seen Lex be someone good. It's so refreshing.

Chloe! What the freakin' heck?? Her eyes got all blurred out like they were when she was taken over by Brainiac. That really scares me. Is she becoming Brainiac? I really thought he was gone for good, though. How does she have his powers, though, if he's gone for good? I've got to admit, it doesn't make much sense. Oh man, I just don't know! I'd absolutely hate to see Chloe go down this path of darkness. I really want to see her just get pulled out of it and marry Jimmy and live happily ever after. That's all I ask for. Well, that and Clark and Lois getting married and living happily ever after. That'd be nice too.

So, I think this'll do it for this rambling. Lots of stuff covered in this episode! So exciting! What's the next episode got in store??
