8.12 - Bulletproof
If Smallville wanted my insides to explode with thoughts and feelings, the ending of this episode did a pretty good job of that. Way to go. Oh boy... let's start off with the basics: still no Lois, Lana is still here and ruining everything for Clois, Tess was apparently the eyes and ears for Lex, Chloe is back to being Clark's sidekick, Clark and Oliver have determined that working together is a good thing... and then there's the whole Clana issue. *sighs deeply* Let's begin.
Oh yeah, John Jones was back. Or, as I like to call him, Mr. Martian Oreo Man. Still don't know about that Oreo thing, but whatever. I should've been shocked and in suspense at the beginning when he was shot and bleeding, but I didn't really care too much. I mean, I hoped he'd be okay and all that and wondered who did it (especially after they showed it was a Policeman), but I enjoyed the following scene much more. Well, enjoyed isn't quite the word. If I'm in a Clana mood, I loved the scene. Clark gave Lana this smile that was so freakin' adorable, and Lana got to see Clark "in his new element." Aww, I hate this! Why is Smallville doing this to me? I've been such an avid Clana fan for so long, I hate not liking seeing them together. I just wish Lois were here and Clark would just choose her over Lana. Which, I guess he'll do eventually... or maybe just be "stuck" with her because Lana is gone. Ugh. Okay, I'll get more into that later.
Martian Oreo Man. It's good to know that Oliver knows who he is and has been working with him a bit. I guess that officially makes him part of the Justice League? Though, he's basically human. Is he just helpful with his position as detective and knowledge about everything? I guess that's useful. I thought it was pretty funny that Oliver immediately suggested that they should just work separately. Obviously the better idea, Oliver. One has always been better than two. Oh well, at least they learned their lesson by the end.
So, Tess. Apparently Lex decided to hook up this thing to Tess's optical nerve so he could see and hear everything she saw and heard. It's a very interesting idea, actually. It reminds me of the Matrix in a sense. Everything you thought was your life has been shared with someone. It relates to the Matrix... really. That actually reminds me more of The Truman Show. That's actually really really creepy. That means Lex was there listening and watching when Tess had sex with Oliver? *shivers violently* UGH! That's such a terrible thought! Oh man... okay. Changing topics. I guess that's supposed to explain how Lex was watching Chloe and Jimmy's wedding on that screen... Tess must've been there? I don't remember seeing her there, but I'm sure that's what we're supposed to believe. I guess Lana showing Tess that eliminates the idea of her working with Lex. She wasn't afraid in the slightest to show Tess what Lex really did despite knowing that Lex was well aware of everything she was saying. Lex must have been pretty upset with Lana at that point. Oh man, I really want to know what he's doing and what he's been up to and why he's hooked up to this machine in a room. Obviously Tess was aware of it. I guess he almost died and they are keeping him alive somehow? No, that doesn't make sense. Why would he be watching a video of what she sees if she was the one to set all of that up? What exactly is this Prometheus project, then? Okay, I'm officially lost. Please Smallville fill in some of these gaps.
Who is Lana working with anyway? She was obviously talking to someone when she was uploading the information she stole from Tess. I've got to say, this wireless downloading stuff is quite handy... it doesn't seem like it'd be that easy. But, anyway. Who is Lana working with? I've pretty much shoved Lex out of the picture, and it's obviously not Green Arrow since he was surprised to find Lana back in Bride. It might be someone we haven't been introduced to yet. Or maybe in some twisted turn of events it's Pete! Lana and Pete hook up in the comics, right? That is just really weird. I don't know. Oh! Maybe Lionel really isn't dead and she's working with him! Yes! I've got it now! Man, that would sure be exciting. Maybe I should just stop and let Smallville tell me the real answer.
It was cute to see Danny's son dressed up as the "Red-Blue Blur." Aww, how cute. I wouldn't be able to help but smile to see someone dressed up as me. Clark, do you still regret letting the Daily Press print your picture? Clark looked good in that Police uniform. I'm not exactly sure how Chloe was able to make him on the force so easily, but then again, it's Chloe. She can do anything with a computer with or without Brainiac, it seems. Oh, speaking of Chloe and Brainiac... without Brainiac in Chloe does that mean that Chloe now has her meteor ability back? Aww, that'd be great. Then she could be the outlet in an episode when someone needs to be healed right then and there. Oh, right. Clark in uniform. It seems like he was being a bit obvious about his abilities. He just pops up and the guy is pushed against the wall and the bullet from the gun has magically disappeared. Then he gets shot, it deflects off his chest, and he claims that it was from a bullet-proof vest. Right, Clark. Bullets bounce off of vests. Last time I checked, they just get absorbed and don't actually hit you. If you were normal, you would've at least fallen back from the impact. Then the fact that he was wearing blue and red when they arrested him, and he knew the Green Arrow and the Green Arrow knew him. It sure seems like they could connect the dots of they wanted to. That would sure make things exciting if they did.
Oh! How could I forget the awesome fight scene between Lana and Tess?? That was amazingly awesome! Lana was kicking butt! I'm glad she didn't kill Tess when given the chance. In fact, she ended up freeing her life from Lex. She really seems to be a changed person that's aiming to be more like Clark. Good for her. I'm pretty sure Tess wouldn't have hesitated long before just killing Lana. That's just what Luthors do. Which, I did think it was interesting that Lana boldly told Tess that Lex saw an equal in her. That whole conversation is more interesting once you know that Lana knows that Lex is listening. I guess Tess knew about Lex faking a pregnancy? I didn't think it was that public of knowledge... in fact, I don't think that Clark even knows that.
I like how Clark showed up Oliver at the end. He was worried about actually changing people to be good rather than forcing them into goodness like Oliver. Well, maybe not forcing, but Oliver seems to be more into just attempting to shake people up rather than actually change them. Clark succeeded in changing Danny's mind. Working together they can do so much good! Yay for them working together again! Speaking of working together, Tess going out to dinner with Oliver to discuss a "merger." I guess a merger of them getting back together and LuthorCorp working with Queen Industries? That would certainly be interesting. Let's see where that goes.
Okay, let's discuss the whole Clana business going on. I was hoping for Lois to be back since Chloe came back and Jimmy seemed to be better, but all I got was one scene of Chloe mentioning it to Clark. Which, that scene was very interesting. I wish Clark said more about Lois, though. I loved what Chloe said, "Yeah, it's that obvious." Aww, that's like Oliver telling Lois he knows about her and Clark. People know, guys. Just go for it! Let's see if Lois will be back next episode. Oh no! But then there's Lana. I was really hoping that when Danny asked Clark if he had someone that made it all worth it that he thought of Lois. It was a mere hope, though. He, of course, ran back to Lana. Which, if this was last season, or season 6, I would be ecstatic about. I couldn't help but love the little smile Clark had when Lana said, "So you came to a coffee shop?" He finally is starting to get it, though. He doesn't have to sacrifice everyone and not have a significant other just to save the world. It sure seems like it'd be possible to do both. I just wish at this moment that it was with Lois and not Lana. Granted, Clark was starting to kiss Lois regardless of this realization back in Bride. He was going to go for it without thinking about the consequences and needing to save the world. That's saying something for sure. He had to decide that he could set that aside for Lana. It seems like that's significant.
That last scene while Clark and Lana were kissing, I really expected Lois to come walking in for some reason and see them kissing. Reminiscent to Clark walking in on Lana and Lex back in season 5. (What a terrible, terrible moment in Smallville history.) I'm not sure why Lois would be there then, or really why I expected that, but I'm happy she didn't walk in. That would've just made my heart break into a million pieces to see Lois's tearful reaction. It was hard for her to see Clark just put his hand on Lana's arm and ask if she was okay. To see them make out... in fact, she reacted when she saw Clark make out with a complete stranger back in Instinct. To see it with Lana... okay, Jephthah. We get it. She wouldn't stand it. But she wasn't there. The worst part about the last scene is when they stop kissing and then just look at eachother. It's impossible to tell what they are thinking! "Wow, let's just hook up right now." NO! What does Clark expect to happen now? What is going to happen next episode after that? How do they leave that scene without being awkward? "Well, that was nice. See you tomorrow, Lana!" We'll probably never find out. Ugh. I'm just hoping that Clark will somehow have to choose between Lana and Lois and Lois is picked. Or maybe Lana can just finally die and then Lois will be all that's left. I guess I could settle for Lana just leaving Smallville again. That'd be okay with me. Oh, right... why did she come back in the first place? She's hiding something from Clark, and Clark knows it, but doesn't seem to care. Lana needs to go back to wherever she came from for whatever reason. Maybe we'll find out that reason next episode. I don't ask for too much, do I?
Okay, I think this'll do for this rambling. What fun! Let's see what the next episode has in store for us!
