Smallville Ramblings

10.12 - Collateral

CHLOE IS BACK! She's even back in the credits! Holy cravitz! I'm so glad I started watching the credits before this, because that just made things so much more exciting to see them add her to the credits. Awww.... YAY! This episode made me laugh really hard. This is the freakin' MATRIX episode of Smallville! And Chloe was the ONE! She didn't stop bullets, but she stopped that knife right in front of her face, which was pretty cool but I was kind of distracted from laughing at the fact that everything they were saying was just like the Matrix. I mean, they even had to "free their mind" and jump off a building to be freed from the "Matrix." I guess Clark would've been a silly blue pill in the Matrix if it was real. Well, at least Lois made him take the red pill and freakin' FLY. Yeah, it was in a fake world, but that just means we are THAT MUCH CLOSER to him flying in real Smallville land. I mean, he only can't fly because of some mental thing anyway, and he actually did fly in real Smallville land, but apparently neither of them noticed. Anyway, this hilarious episode's rambling should move on to a new paragraph.

I was so incredibly confused when Chloe materialized through the wall of Oliver's cell. "Did she get some new crazy power? Is she some crazy possessed person? What the heck is going on?" Not mention this is after Clark, Oliver, and Dinah saw her in these "flashbacks" doing "experiments" on them. I had faith in Chloe's goodness, so I had concluded that it wasn't really her there. It seemed like a reasonable explanation to me. I surely didn't expect a Matrix explanation, but I suppose it was kind of fun. It seemed to be rather easy to "free your mind" in this world. Oliver did it in like 10 seconds. It seems as though we missed the conversation between Lois and Chloe, but she seemed to believe it pretty quickly as well. Clark was just Mr. Slow. Goodness, in the Matrix only Neo could really completely free his mind enough to stop bullets and such. I suppose if a Zionite went into the Matrix and wasn't used to it being their home for so long they might be able to free their mind that quickly too. I don't know. I never know anything. All I know is that I laughed really hard at this episode. I will say that as many times as I want.

So Chloe wasn't only the One in this Matrix world. She also kind of turned into Agent Smith by the end. Why on earth did they start multiplying her on the roof? Just to creep out Clark? Wouldn't that just convince him even more that Chloe wasn't who she said she was? What good did it do? Clark just shot off into the air (very reminiscent of Neo launching into the air from the mound of Smiths) with Lois and flew around the Daily Planet for a little bit. That must have been fun. I kept expecting lines exactly from the Matrix to pop up. When Oliver was asking how we could die in this Matrix world, Chloe really should have just said, "The body cannot live without the mind." I mean, what else is there to say? Actually, I really liked her analogy to someone falling to their death actually dying from the heart attack and not the impact. That seems to describe it pretty well. Though, it seems if you really don't think anything is real, how could it hurt you? I don't know. There's not time in one episode to describe all the philosophical things.

So Chloe WILL be there for the wedding! Aww... Chloe will be Lois' maid of honor and Oliver will be Clark's best man. That's so cute. It's so right, too. Who else would it be? Pete? Psh... who cares about Pete? We haven't seen him since Hero and before that it was years. Oliver is obviously the perfect fit. I could probably look ahead at the episode titles to figure out when Clark and Lois will get married... but I certainly wouldn't want that to be ruined. It's like when he proposed. If I had known when he would propose it would've made the moment much less special and exciting. I hate spoilers! I've been doing well so far without spoilers considering I was behind 2 seasons at one point... anyway. Back to the episode.

I'm glad Oliver didn't just welcome Chloe home without telling her all about his pain. Of course she knew he missed her and everything, but Oliver really expressed just how much. "Did the helmet say anything about how I'd be sitting alone listening to old voice mails just to hear your voice, or that I'd be scanning every single stranger's face at a subway just in hopes that I'd come across your smile, never to find it?" Aww... but then he found out that she's actually staying this time and just can't be mad at her for real. Yay for happiness! Keep it coming, Smallville!

So I was obviously wrong about that pyramid thing having something to do with Carter and his wife coming back. It really was something terrible that took them all away. But, luckily Chloe was able to save them all. I LOVE CHLOE! I'M SO GLAD SHE'S BACK! Did I mention that already? Though, Clark did mention missing Carter at the very end to Lois. He's got to come back before the end of the season. And he'll have his WIFE with him! Yay! More happiness! There are so many promising things ahead. YAY!

Lois picked out the flowers and bridesmaid dresses in one afternoon without Clark? That sounds a bit ridiculous. I know that guys don't really care too much about those details, but why would Lois want to hide them from Clark? It seems like he wouldn't care too much about what she picked and enjoy the surprise on their wedding day. I don't know. It was a fairly good excuse for Clark to be alone in the barn while Lois walked up on him. It is good news that they are showing that they are actually planning this wedding. It's got to happen soon. I just know it. Well, maybe not. I'm going to guess in the 3 episodes from now. They'll get married in episode 15. Just watch me be right. Or just already know that I'm wrong because they've already aired all of season 10... whatever you choose.

For once this season they didn't end an episode with something dramatic or super exciting! It was actually kind of nice. Nothing is threatening anybody's life, Lois and Clark are happy and engaged, Oliver and Chloe are back together, and Chloe is back in Smallville. A nice episode. Thank you, Smallville, yet again for doing what I want to actually happen.

I will now end this rambling and move on to the next episode as soon as possible. Nothing will stop me!
