Smallville Ramblings

8.05 - Committed

Basically, this episode rocked my socks off. So many things to ramble about! Lois loves Clark and there's no denying it. I'm not too sure what's going on with Oliver or Tess, but at least Chloe and Jimmy are happy with each other. :) Now we just need Kara, Lex, Martha, Jonathan... and I'm not decided on Lana anymore. She would kind of mess things up with Lois and Clark, it seems. Oh man, I need to get to a new paragraph quick!

Oliver and Tess... what the freakin' heck? First of all, they had sex?? Man, I really lost a lot of respect for Oliver in this episode. Well, and for Tess. I'm ashamed of both of them. They don't seem to have mended any feelings at all. They just decided it would be a good night to have sex. "I had an itch, and you scratched it." Man, that is so beyond terrible. She's reminding me of Lex more and more. Why is Oliver even bothering with her? What is his problem? Well, at least he's hot. That's a plus. I'm not sure how he's staying out of contact with people like they said in the first episoode... it sure seems like he and Clark are talking just fine. I'm not sure if he ever got cleared up about the whole Clark and Lois being engaged thing. Man, if they all knew that it was going to be that way for real in the (hopefully) near future! Man, I'm so incredibly psyched.

Chloe and Jimmy. I'm seriously happy that everything is going hunky dory for them, but I have a hard time believing Chloe. I really think because of her intense Brainiac powers, that she could easily fool the lie detector. Even if she really does love Jimmy the most and want to spend the rest of her life with him, which I'm really happy about, I really don't think that she doesn't love Clark. There's no way. First of all, it'd be really hard to just stop loving someone when you have for so long. Second of all, just because she loves him doesn't mean it has to be a romantic boyfriend/girlfriend type love. They have been best friends for so long... I just find it so hard to believe. Though, I should be happy because she honestly wants to be with Jimmy, and now he seems to finally believe her and not be worried about Clark anymore. That's some good news. :) I'll just stick to the idea that she was able to fool the silly machine.

Now, Lois on the other hand, I don't believe her freakin' lie at the end for a second. She was ignoring Clark because of that, and she wouldn't have answered, "I'm not sure" to Clark's question of if she was okay. It sure seems like she would've said something like, "You know... I slipped the sensor off my finger" or "I wasn't telling the truth." I don't know. Something to clear it up rather than make it awkward. And no one can deny the look she had on her face when the psychopath asked the question. You could see it in her face that the answer was yes. "Aww, crap. I've got to answer." She had this terrible dilemma. She loved Clark too much to see him get hurt again, but she didn't want Clark to know because the basis of their relationship is pretending like they don't like eachother. It's been like that ever since the beginning, and it would seem awkward to suddenly change that. Lois is adament about denying it, and so is Clark. The only difference now is that thanks to Maxima from Instinct, Lois now consciously realizes that she really does love Clark. Man, if only Clark could just get past his freakin' feelings for Lana and go for what's right in front of him. At least Lois got him thinking at the end of the episode. "Who knows where we'd be if you'd answered that question." He gets this look of, "Yeah, thanks. Haha..." and then he looks at her and starts thinking. "Hmm... what would I have said? Do I love Lois? No! No way? What's going on? All these feelings of love!" Yeah, like that exactly. I'm sure of it.

Oh my gosh, my favorite line of the entire episode: "If this were the last place on earth and I had to write an SOS, I wouldn't come here for a nib or a quill!" LOL! Oh my gosh, that's hilarious! I didn't get it the first time I saw it. I guess I missed the part that the store was named, "Nibs 'n Quills." I love Lois so much! If only Clark realized that he felt the same way. Okay, let's analyze some scenes, shall we? Clark and Lois are having a conversation and Lois asks Clark, "Okay genius, what do you want to do?" "Well, you should go back to the Daily Planet. See if those background checks we ordered came in." "And just what do you plan on doing alone that we can't do together?" "A lot." Then we see Lois look at Clark and she kind of smirks and looks at him up and down. I'm thinking she's thinking to herself something along the lines of, "Man, he's so freakin' hot. I really do love this guy." Then what's her next comment? "Wait a minute, the guy's preying on couples, right?" Why on earth would Lois think to make them a couple right after that? I'm thinking it's because she's thinking about them being a great couple and how they could be married... oh what a nice cover for them. Oh man, and then it's typical Clark, "No one will believe it Lois! Not even for a second!" So much denial, man! Just give in to your feelings and really marry Lois! It'll be awesome, I promise! I really loved their interactions being a fake engaged couple. "What about this one, Pumpkin?" "Anything you want, Muffin." LOL, I love it so much. Oh, and the line a little before that. "Who's the luckiest girl in the world?? I am!" Her expression is priceless. It makes you wonder how much acting was going on in that scene on her part...

Okay, new paragraph time. That last analysis might have been somewhat of a stretch, but it seems plausible enough. Let's move on to another scene to analyze that won't be as much as a stretch. The truth/lie scene between Lois and Clark! Let's see... wait, first of all. I've to the say it. Why the heck was this guy wearing a kryptonite watch? What the heck? I mean, I love it in that the whole scene could happen... but seriously. Why did he only wear that watch when he's doing his electrocution truth/lie thing and not while he's working? Obviously he wasn't wearing it when Clark met him the first time. I really have no idea. I suppose I'll just have to get over it since it really did allow for such an awesome scene. I love how Smallville can do that for me. Have something that makes little to no sense, but I am able to look past it because it makes awesome scenes possible. Man, this is why I love Smallville. Those imperfections and plot holes just make it that much more fun.

Okay, so this scene. Clark wakes up to Lois's lovely voice. Man, I've got to say something else. Clark is really stupid sometimes. Why did he feel the urge to tell this nice man that he knew who he was? To scare him? Lois lovingly pointed out soon after that it was rather stupid. "What's the point? Now that we've both seen your face you're going to kill us anyway." So true, Lois! So true! I guess Clark was just trying whatever to fix the problem... I don't know. Okay, anyway... the awesomeness just starts to begin when this psychopath points out that Clark must really care about Lois rushing in there to save her. Granted, I'm not sure how true that could be since he would do that for anyone and basically doesn't have anything to fear, but it was nice to hear anyway. And I loved Lois's response. "Yeah, he's stupid that way." And then she gives him this look of, "Seriously... you're stupid that way." Aww... but so lovingly. Clark doesn't seem to mind. Then this guy tells them they are going to be taking a test to reveal how much they've been hiding from one another. Clark gets this look of panic because of his secret and... Lois? She gets the same kind of look of panic on her face. Why? Because she knows that she loves Clark and doesn't want him to know! It's not part of their relationship to openly love each other... it's awkward to say it out loud. How could she love Smallville? Yeah, it's awesome.

Moving on with the scene, how was Lois lying when she said that hadn't cheated on Clark? That's really interesting. She said no... but she apparently was nervous enough about answering that that it came up as a lie. She could've answered something like, "It's kind of hard to cheat on someone you're not even dating!" No, she didn't say that. In fact, she got a sort of panicked look on her face. Clark's reaction was more of what you'd expect. "Are you joking? How could she cheat on me?" Then Lois looks at him, "Right... that's crazy..." So she decides to respond with, "Of course not, don't be ridiculous." And it was a lie. So, when would she have "cheated" on Clark? It couldn't be this season... she hasn't hooked up with anyone this season. The only person she spends her time with is Clark. Unless she was thinking of when she was by Oliver when he was dying. That wouldn't count, though. I wouldn't think so. She just held his hand and wanted him to... not die. So, I'm thinking she's got to be thinking of a time before this season. Maybe with Ollie? Maybe because she's really loved Clark for a long time and only realized it last episode, so when she had to answer that question she could only think of how she was with Ollie, but really loved Clark... so it was like she was cheating on Clark. Maybe? Eh, this was supposed to not be as far of a stretch as before. Oh well, I'm still wondering about it. Clark should've kept going with that in the elevator. "But it did work the first time, you know when you electrocuted me." Maybe add something like "by the way... how could you have been lying? How could you cheat on someone you aren't dating?" That would've been so awkward for Lois. I would've loved to see how she responded, and what exactly she was thinking of. There's no way out of that one. The lie detector obviously worked and she was obviously lying.

And we keep going with this same scene. Lois freaks out when she sees Clark being electricuted. Oh man, freakin' awesome. "What you doing?? You're killing him!!" Man, she can't hold it back. She loves him and can't dare to see him like that. So when the question comes of whether or not she loves him... you know it's what's been on her mind this whole time. What she was afraid that he'd ask her. She knows the answer right away, but doesn't want to say it. Clark's words of, "Just tell the truth" certainly weren't helping either. Lois knows that she does, and when she looks at this guy that she knows she loves, he's telling her to tell the truth. He's basically saying for her to just say no so he wouldn't have to be electrocuted again. He's basically telling her that he doesn't love her. At least, doesn't realize that he loves her. So she sits there, and finally when she starts to break down crying that she loves this guy who doesn't appear to love her back... she has no choice but to tell the truth. "Yes." YES!! Freakin' yes! Clark's reaction was priceless as well. He starts to cringe as if he's going to be electrocuted again until he realizes that he's not... why not? Then he realizes that she must've been telling the truth. He looks up all wide eyed as he realizes that Lois Lane loves him. LOVES HIM! Oh man! I re-watched the scene when Clark watches the break-up video Lana gives him in Arctic, and I could tell right there that she loved him. Seeing how hurt he was tore her to pieces. She didn't have anything else to do but to give him a comforting hug. Oh, man. I love this so much! This is the relationship that's destined to actually last! Keep it up!

I guess Lois was too distracted to realize that Clark just somehow escaped on his own? I mean, none of anything made any sense. How could he have gotten out? Even if that pipe exploded, that wouldn't make Clark be able to break lose. The only explanation is that she was too distracted by just telling Clark that she loved him. It's a pretty good excuse, I guess.

This guy that was kidnapping couples and making sure they were honest with each other; I'd really love to know the back story with him. After watching Criminal Minds and getting used to seeing these Psychopath's explained, I'm not used to seeing these kinds of people without knowing at least some reason how they became the way they are. He must've really had a bad childhood and marriage to become like that. He's got some serious issues. All I ask is to know how and why he is that way. I know that would just be too much to ask in Smallville, though. I guess it's not really supposed to be the focus of the show anyway. I'd prefer that time filled with Clois moments anyway. :)

Oh, I almost forgot about Jimmy. So he'd been lying to Chloe this whole time about his parents? Sad day. At least he felt free enough to finally tell Chloe. It's not like he's a different Jimmy, though. Granted, he did lie to her. That really does matter. I'm sure it'll be alright with them, though. Chloe was awesome enough to at least forgive him in that moment. Good for them. I honestly hope it works out with them in the end and they can be married happily ever after... unlike Lex and Lana.

I think it's just about time to end this rambling. On to more Clois moments! Keep 'em coming!
