Smallville Ramblings

9.14 - Conspiracy

Zod has powers! Yikes! I'm not sure what to think of him or the future anymore. Chloe is keeping an eye on all the Kandorians without Clark's knowledge and hiding a massive amount of weapons that could kill him, Chloe and Oliver are apparently together to some degree, Lois and Clark are hiding things from each other and they both know it, there is a creepy man who likes to chop off aliens' limbs.... *shiver* This episode completely grossed me out and got my brain spinning. Here we go.

I must say that when I saw that the crazy man was shown chopping off limbs I honestly shivered with disgust. Ugh! It's understandable that he would want to stop an "alien invasion" and that he would be paranoid since they brought him back to life and did experiments on him. That's definitely reason to be mad and paranoid. Though, did he honestly think it was a good idea to kidnap these aliens and then chop off their arms and legs? To do what... experiments? What the heck, man? How can you just grab a chainsaw and dismember people without a second thought? Yes, they are technically aliens, but they are basically human, and certainly look human. I just can't imagine. Seeing that would scar you for life. Lois should be suffering some major trauma from that, and that Kandorian's sister should be for sure. To think that you might die by being chopped up into pieces by a mad man right after seeing your friends die that way? BLECH! I am done typing about this. It's making me sick to my stomach.

On a different note, I'm starting to distrust Chloe more and more. After all these years of sticking by Clark, she's starting to go a bit rogue. Yes, it's with good intentions, but she has way too many secrets and is wanting to keep an eye on way too many people. She seems to be obsessed with watching things. It kind of scares me. At least she has Oliver (weird) to keep her in line. I never thought I would say that, but she does. He found out about her weapons she made using his money and he has some sense to want to tell Clark (when it's time). I think it's kind of a good idea to prepare for the worst, but it's terrifying to think that those weapons now actually exist. If the Kandorians got those now, especially with Zod having powers but none of them having powers, they could easily take down Clark. It could turn for the worst really quickly. Especially if they somehow find out that Chloe put tracking chips with the identities Clark is providing them, they will suddenly not trust Clark at all and there is the power for them to turn on him. While Chloe has great intentions in wanting to protect Clark, this is really setting him up for disaster.

One thing is for sure: the future is drastically different than it once was now that Zod has powers. I must wonder, though. Could Clark have saved Jor-El that same way? Could he still save him using his blood? Or does it only work right before or right after they die? I was afraid it meant Zod suddenly had powers for him to have some of Clark's blood. What I can't decide is how much of what Zod told Clark at the end was true. He's got to trust Clark more, now. He saved Zod's life knowing that he could somehow cause the destruction of the world! He saved his life without a second thought. He went and stabbed himself with kryptonite to save you, Zod! That shows loyalty! Though, Zod did straight-up lie to Clark. He pretended he was still hurt, somehow. What I wonder is how Zod got up there in the first place. It seems like he flew there, and then obviously flew off the roof, but what is Clark supposed to believe? "Oh Zod just walked up here while I was in the basement and while I leave he'll just keep hanging around up here until he feels like coming down. Surely he doesn't have powers." Stupid Clark. Now I wonder if Zod is going to share this with his fellow Kandorians. I think he will. It seems possible that he could somehow give them powers the same way--give them some sort of open wound and then he'll drop some of his blood into it, and then BAM! They have powers. Eek! Bad things are brewing!

I'm starting to think that Zod may actually be somewhat good. Yes, he's lying to Clark and such, but he obviously has good in him. He sacrificed himself to go find these kidnapped Kandorians, and did the same thing for his soldiers on Kandor. He is brave and willing to sacrifice for those he cares about. I think Lois going over and trying to help him must have shown him that humans are worth something. Lois really seems like the key here for the different future. Perhaps Zod now will have more hope in humanity so he doesn't want to rule over them because of her. Perhaps he now has the hots for Lois and will want to take her from Clark. I doubt that a little bit, but I wouldn't put it past Smallville. I just can't decide if Zod is going to immediately use these powers for good or not. What is he going to do?

Now, what is exactly stopping Clark from flying? Zod obviously picked it up pretty quickly after getting powers. There's some sort of mental block or something. Or maybe not telling Lois his secret is causing him problems. I have no idea how that makes any sense, but lots of things in Smallville don't make much sense. Maybe when Lex comes back (because we all know he will sometime) he'll be forced to learn how to fly. I have no idea. It just doesn't seem like it should be this hard for Clark

I was glad too see that Clark didn't deny to Zod that he was the one that destroyed the towers. Like I suspected, Zod knew that it must have been Clark that caused their destruction. What else would it be? Then Clark didn't deny it. There was really no use. Now what I find interesting is that Tess doesn't seem to know that it was Clark that destroyed them. I would think she would make that connection. I would think she would have been somewhat happy about them being destroyed, too, but she didn't seem too happy about it when she talked to Oliver.

So, Lois decided to take that blood sample and give it to "The Wall" to be analyzed? This doesn't seem good. And she's all suspicious about what happened and Zod not having an identity and such. If only they were both being honest with each other, then Lois wouldn't be suspicious, she wouldn't be working with this other group to research these aliens, and Clark would know about this other group that contacted Lois. Ugh! Just be honest! What I thought was a little bit funny was Clark seeing that Lois put something in her desk, and then when Lois pointed out that Clark was obviously hiding something from her, Clark decided the best response would be to tell Lois that she has to tell him what she's hiding first. Okay, Clark. Did you think that through? If she had told you what was in her drawer, would you really have told Lois everything? Everything? He must have counted on Lois not wanting to tell him anything. Hm.

Well, I think this will do. So many exciting and terrifying things are coming up. On to the next episode!
