6.13 - Crimson
Crimson continued the awesome episode trend. In fact, I think it may have surpassed the awesomeness of the past 3 episodes. Clark on Red Kryptonite again! When was the last time that we saw him with Red K? Back in Unsafe with Alicia in season 4? It was! I would have to say that this episode had my favorite of Red Clark moments. Oh man! But... I'll have to ramble about that later. I'll get the less exciting stuff out of the way first.
I'm wondering why the "oil essence lady" was at the Talon in the first place. Did the Talon owner (whoever that is now) hear about her somewhere and ask her to make the party more Valentine-ish, or what? Or maybe since she mentioned having a "sixth-sense about people" she knew that she had to be there to hook Clark and Lois up. Sure, I'll go with that. I guess that also explains why she just had to use Red meteor rock to get the "brilliant red hue" in the lipstick. She knew what it would do to Clark, somehow. I know that Red Kryptonite isn't the only thing that can make lipstick red. But, I'm not mad at her at all for giving Lois some of that lipstick. It made the episode all that it is! Holy cravitz.
I got what I wanted. Lois being all depressed about Ollie made her see Clark in a new light! (Even if it was with the help of some crazy lipstick) I only had to wait one episode. Even though both of them were high off of stuff, you could tell that something was still there. The Red Kryptonite just let Clark stop kidding himself and go for it with Lois! He really does have feelings for her. He decided to just give away his secret to her! He purposely didn't give it away to Lex in Rush back in season 2. I think that he really has feelings for Lois, and is only now just realizing it. Remember back in Oracle when Clark told Lois that at times it seems like she don't know him at all, and others where she knows him better than anyone! Then she smiled and replied with "That's what I'm here for, Smallville. One save at a time." That might not be verbatim, but whatever. They had a moment! All of these relationships with Clark are making me so confused! I want Clana, Clois, and Chlark! I want to pick one, but I can't decide. Maybe that's good. That way I'll be happy with whatever they go with, since he's gotta to end up with one of them in the near future. I'm betting on Lois. I should really go for that relationship anyway since that's the one I know should last. But, you know, with Smallville you never know if they are going to go with the original story or decide to change it up. Clark is not the same Clark Kent that they show in the Superman movies. Maybe in Smallville world he'll somehow end up with someone else besides Lois... probably not. We'll just see!
Okay, I'll ramble a little more about Lois and Clark. It was so funny at the beginning when Jimmy and Chloe were both saying "Lois and Clark" as if it sounded completely unnatural. When, of course, that seems to match up perfectly to anyone else outside of the Smallville world. When Lois first came to pre-Red Clark, and she put Clark's arms around her... you could see that Clark liked it. For a moment, he was caught up in it all. Oh man, and when Clark brought her up to the roof, it so reminded me of Superman Returns when Superman is with Lois. I'm sure there are other Superman scenes that look just like that on a roof as well. Though, I have to admit, the CGI of Clark flying with Lois didn't quite flow as well as it could. But, it was still awesome. Clark flew! I remember when he first flew in Crusade and Jonathan asked Clark about it, and Clark's response was, "Kal-El can fly. Clark Kent is still earth-bound." Obviously not! Clark Kent can fly! If only your fear of heights and fear of everything wasn't in your way. Though, I'm sure if some guy I was with decided to just fly into the air with me in his arms, I would be ecstatic... but scared to death. Who is this guy? How did he do that? Though, Lois wasn't exactly herself. That would be so awesome. They really do look cute together. Lois is actually pretty close to Clark's height and doesn't have to stand on her toes to kiss him. And I'm glad that the tattoo isn't permanent... that would have been exciting if it was.
Enough about Clois. On to the party scene! Oh my goodness. That was probably one of the most entertaining scenes I've seen on Smallville. Clark finally said everything that you know he's been thinking. He just let it all out! I thought it was hilarious that everyone was just kind of standing there in shock, not daring to move or do anything to provoke a response. Actually, once they did (Lex), Clark decided to push him into some kind of glass structure. Ouch! Did anyone wonder how a simple shove could make Lex fly like that? I guess that was the least of their worries at the time. Clark finally let Martha know that he really didn't like her spending time with Lionel. Of course she knew that already, but Clark finally let it out on her. But, you know, it did make me wonder how Martha was invited but Clark wasn't. It seems like Lana would have convinced Lex to invite Clark. Perhaps... it is a burn to Clark to invite his own mother but not him. I would have been angry too. I thought it was interesting that a lot of what he was saying was from the things he saw in Labyrinth in his alternate universe. He saw his mom married to Lionel, and he hated it! He finally saw Lana on good terms with him, and he loved it! But, I'm going to ramble about them later. (Don't worry, it will come.)
I feel terrible for Chloe! She and Jimmy broke up! I didn't see that coming so soon! Jimmy just laid it on her! Good acting on his part... he looked genuinely hurt. Chloe's hesitation to Jimmy's question of him or Clark confirms to me that she would choose Clark. Uhh, duh! Who wouldn't choose Clark? :P She has wanted Clark since at least Freshman year in high school. But, that still doesn't mean she doesn't care for Jimmy. Oh! Oh my goodness! I was watching some older episodes last weekend, and I saw Unsafe again and I saw something! Chloe admitted that she wasn't a virgin, and who did she say it was? Jimmy! I swear! Jimmy took Chloe's virginity back in high school during her internship at the Daily Planet! That adds a whole new dimension to their relationship. At least, to me. What do I take from that? Are they really going to end up together somehow? I can't decide if I would prefer her with Jimmy or Clark. Eh, as long as they are both with somebody, I'll get over it. But, anyway, they both looked so hurt. It made me feel so bad for both of them! Oh, and I'm sure that Clark's comment to her in the dinner scene didn't help at all. "I can't say that I haven't thought about it." Ooohh! Clark! I don't know what was going through Chloe's head just then. Emotions everywhere! Then, of course, seeing Lois' hurt look after Clark said that was kind of funny.
And Lana. Clark was the biggest jerk to Lana. He tells everyone at the engagement party that she's pregnant with Lex's baby, and not only that, but that it's "the real reason why Lana's marrying [Lex]." Clark! Clark! That is so mean! You could just see the look of disgust and hurt on Lana's face! Then Clark did what I didn't think he would do! He just went off and grabbed Lana by the arm and pulled her of out there and into his barn. How did he get there so fast? That must have been an awkward moment... just them walking to Clark's barn with Lana being pulled by the arm. Though, it's funny, because it seems like the conversation just started when they got to the barn. Heh... but I'll ignore that. It was kind of funny because when Clark and Lois looked like they were going to have sex, I was thinking to myself that he should just go and grab Lana so that he can finally say what he should say to her. Not too long after that, he looks over at the invitation and the fun began. But, that's just extra information. The entire barn scene was absolutely brilliant. I think that the Red Kryptonite is like a truth potion to Clark. He says what he really feels! Everything that he told Lana was what he really meant. Lana asked what Clark wanted from her. He honestly (and harshly) replied, "What I've always wanted! For you to be happy." Then later when he told her that he was still in love with her, and she had the nerve to come back saying that Clark didn't love her? Lana! You can't do that! You can't tell someone what they mean or feel! Is she just going by when he told her that he doesn't love her? You know, that sounded really stupid. But, seriously, did Lana really think that Clark didn't love her when he said that? I think it was more of him saying that he was serious about them breaking up. You don't just suddenly not love someone anymore.
Okay... I'm going to analyze this scene to pieces. When Clark said, "Lana, stop kidding yourself. You're never gonna be satisfied with Lex." Lana didn't refute it with, "Yes I will, because I love him." She just looked back at Clark trying not to show too much emotion for her regret. Clark continued with, "You can't marry him." and Lana went into her serious Lex voice and simply said, "I've already made up my mind." No, not that she had decided that Lex would be better for her. Not that she loves Lex, but that she had already made up her mind. She already decided to shut Clark off because she didn't want to be hurt again. The truth is that she really wants Clark! She is trying so hard to push him away so she isn't hurt yet again. Their relationship is so confusing. It's not going to get anywhere if Clark doesn't tell Lana his secret, but if Clark tells Lana then (of course) something will inevitably happen to her and Clark will feel guilty. It's a trap. Nothing can come of it. But, I'll continue on with the scene. Lana decides that she has won the conversation already, so she starts to walk away briskly. (Even though you don't "win" conversations, Lana.) And Clark goes and digs deep and tells her that she is in love with him. She knows it to be true, but she wants to see why Clark thinks it's true. Her initial expression to Clark's comment just told me that she knew what he said was true. But, she turned into her defensive mode and turned it around on Clark. So, of course Clark tells her he loves her and they kiss. Lana was in a terrible position! She didn't want to betray Lex (I think) but she so wanted to kiss Clark like she had so many times before! She held back, but with Clark's unending strength, she can't really resist. So she gives in and kisses him. What a terrible position. It broke my heart to see her reaction to Clark's proposal. That was some of the best acting I've ever seen, and it's exactly what Clark needed to hear. She really has given him "every chance." Clark isn't being fair to her at all. Of all the times to go for it, he has the worst timing. I also noticed that after they kissed, when Lana was just starting to cry, you could see on her face all of those old feelings coming back up. She glanced up at Clark once but couldn't stand to look into the eyes of the man that she really loved and wanted. After Clark's proposal, she looked him in the eye and gave him the defensive Lana look and went into her rant. I would absolutely hate to be in her position right now.
But, of course, the scene goes on, but that paragraph didn't want to be too long. Lex decides to show up! (Good timing, by the way Lex.) Lana sure did embrace him. Clark said exactly what I had been feeling about this whole love triangle. Lana is a prize to Lex. A prize that he took away from Clark, and Lex is the consolation prize for Lana. Perfect. While that was incredibly cruel to say, it got Lana thinking. At the end of the episode when she questioned Lex wanting to shoot Clark to hurt him, or protect Lana... Clark had gotten her thinking. I can't believe Clark told Lana to tell him she didn't love him. Finally it got turned around on her! She did that to Clark and to Jason way back in season 4. She never really answered though... I wouldn't have either. Oh, when Lex whipped out his gun, I wanted him to shoot Clark and for them to see his secret. That sure would have made everything exciting! Lana would know and Lex would go all crazy causing Lana to leave him and finally be with Clark. (maybe) Probably not. But, that doesn't matter because Clark made sure that they didn't see that. He doesn't want Lex to know whether he's on Red K or not. It's a good thing that Martha showed up when she did. Then it would have been really obvious that Clark wasn't human. Lana had a genuine look of concern on her face for Clark when she saw him on the ground writhing in pain. Love Lana! Love! Clark did seem to sweat rather quickly and get the Red Kryptonite out of his system. Though, that would have been ultra-boring to watch him just laying there sweating slowly. So, I won't complain.
And Lana decided to pick up the... what... screwdriver? A random rod? It doesn't matter. Lana went back and picked it up and hid it from Lex! I don't know how... but she did. I really have no idea where that is going to lead. What if Lana figures it all out on her own? What does she expect to happen? Tell Clark she knows and then everything work out? I don't know! But I'm excited to find out.
Okay, there's one more thing I have to ramble about before I end this incredibly long rambling. Lana's pregnancy! It isn't a normal one? What is that supposed to mean? Did Lex somehow inject something into Lana to make her pregnant with some kind of freak? Or did he inject something into him to make something happen to her when he impregnated her? Is it somehow Clark's baby in some weird twisted way? Is some of Zod somehow in Lex from before, causing an abnormal pregnancy? I have no clue, but yet again, I want to find out! What's abnormal? I bet the baby is going to die somehow. It has to. Maybe.
This ends my ramble. Next week I suspect we'll have yet another awesome episode with a longer rambling.
