Smallville Ramblings

9.06 - Crossfire

IT HAPPENED! IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! CLARK AND LOIS KISSED! *ahem* Needless to say, the ending of this episode was quite thrilling and basically was something that I've wanted to happen since season 7. I have tons to say about that moment and Cloisness in general but, of course, that is for another paragraph of its own. *sighs blissfully*

I was really confused at the beginning of the episode. I really thought I had accidentally turned on the wrong thing or something. I absolutely LOVED seeing the episode open with Lois and Clark hosting a morning talk show. It was so strange I was half expecting it to be a dream of Lois's or something, until it was obvious that it was just an audition. I was happy to see that Lois wasn't mad enough at Clark to not want him to help (and that he was putting forth such an obvious effort to win back her good graces). It was so cute to see the show director (or whoever she was exactly) wanting them both together. "You have great chemistry!" That's right they do! Who wouldn't love to see both of them hosting a talk show like Regis and Kelly? It reminded me of Lois and Clark (the TV show) when there were advertisements posted all around the city of both of them as a writing team. Great stuff. Though, I'm glad they didn't end up keeping the job since that could be a problem for Clark if he was a household name.

I'm glad Ollie is helping Mia out. Immediately after getting over his depression he is working hard to help others in his similar situation. I'm thinking we might somehow see her helping with Justice League stuff. She certainly could fight. The fact that she said, "I don't bruise easily" at the beginning makes me think that she might have some sort of ability to withstand hits. Or not. I might be grasping at straws. Either way, I'm glad she's being helped. Maybe her and Ollie will hook up later in the season... though I'm not too sure. They seem to be too friendly to each other, like they'll be good friends. But, we'll see.

Speaking of Ollie, I'm so sad that Lois broke his heart. Though, not sad enough to wish that Lois would hook up with Ollie again. (Obviously) I got slightly scared when she told Ollie "I do love you..." but knew she was holding something back: "...as a dear friend." Aww... Ollie started to cry. He threw himself out there hoping for something to work out, but he obviously knew there was something going on between Clark and Lois. YEAH THERE IS! Not only that, but Lois wasn't afraid to hold back the fact that it was in fact Clark that was why she couldn't hook back up with Ollie. This is so unbelievably awesome! All of my Clois dreams are coming true! Instead of her avoiding the question somehow and me having to somehow read into her expressions to come to the conclusion that she loved Clark, she said it herself! It's so great not having to guess their thoughts.

It was kind of fun to see Chloe and Stuart battling it out as hackers (even if it made no sense in computer land...). I think it's a brilliant plan to get Stuart to be on their side. That way he could lead Tess to believe that things are going fine so he can stay alive (and not be "terminated"... yikes), and then hit her when she can't get him back. He can be with the good guys! Though, I have to wonder, if he did join their team, what would Chloe do? They only need one super hacker to help them, it would seem. What would/could they do at the same time? I'm sure there's something.

CLOIS! CLOIS! CLOIS! Okay, so I was really losing hope by the end of the episode. It looked like the episode was going to end with Clark thinking that Oliver was taking Lois away from him, and Oliver would dislike Clark for taking Lois away from him, and Lois would have no idea. Clark would say and/or do something stupid next episode to show this thought process and then things would spiral out of control. It's happened too many times in Smallville. The intense music was playing while the different storylines were wrapping up (by the way--way to go Tess for somehow killing that Kandorian! Woohoo!) and I figured it would show Lois and Clark separately distressed about each other. But no... the music stops and Clark walks into the Daily Planet with this look on his face. I'm glad he talked to Chloe about it and she talked some sense into him, by the way. So, Clark walks in and Lois is ranting and raving about not getting the job. I'm excited about whatever this Clois scene may do, and then suddenly out of NOWHERE Clark grabs Lois and goes in for the kiss. WAAHHAHAHA!! It was so unexpected! They FINALLY kissed without being under the influence of anything, or having some sort of time travel that would undo anything, nobody was in someone else's body or rudely interrupted by ex-girlfriends/boyfriends... IT JUST HAPPENED! Now, I can't help but wonder about Crimson when they kissed under various influences and Lois was able to remember Clark's kiss as the kiss from the Green Arrow. Granted, that was a long time ago and I'm not sure Lois would still remember, and the fact that she knows who the Green Arrow actually is... I'm not sure it really matters. But, it's a thought that I can't quite keep out of my mind. Maybe it'll somehow lead to finding out Clark's secret. Meh... I don't think that'll happen until season 10. Or maybe by the end of this season. We'll see!

So, Tess supposedly ordered the vials of Clark's blood to be destroyed before the Kandorians could analyze it? That's fascinating. She's protecting Clark? She must not be all bad, which I've thought for a while now. Though, how would she even know that the blood was Clark's and how could she make a random lab destroy a random vial of blood? Perhaps they were using Luthorcorp labs to analyze it or something. I don't know. These sunlight towers are interesting. I'm not sure how the Kandorians are going to suddenly get power from the concentrated sun, but I don't think it's going to work. I think there's another reason that they don't have powers. I think they should just all die. That would be convenient.

Now, I must point out that FOR ONCE I was right about Lois and Clark! Last rambling I wondered how mad Lois would be at Clark this episode and so I said that they should just "kiss and make up" this episode. THEY ACTUALLY DID! That's so awesome. :)

One final thought: I loved seeing Clark so open about complimenting Lois and talking about dates. They both admitted that the Monser Truck ralley was their "first date" and discussed their "second date." Clark told Lois that she looked great in her new dress, that she would be prom queen if she were at prom, pretty much asked if she would go on a second date, that he was working hard to get another second date, etc. etc.! I love it so much! *sighs* Man, I can't wait to see what the next episode has in store. How did that kiss end? "Wow, thanks for that. Now let's sit across from each other and get back to work." "Sounds good." What I'm wondering is what Clark's plan was when he walked in to talk to Lois. Was he originally going to tell her that he loved her and wanted to be together? Then when Lois wouldn't stop talking he just decided the best way to communicate was to shut her up and kiss her. What a great plan! That was possibly the smartest thing you've done ALL SERIES Clark! Way to go!

Alright, I'm really excited to watch the next episode. So much Cloisness is promised this season. SO MUCH! On to the next episode!
