Smallville Ramblings

7.04 - Cure

What do you know, another week of Smallville passed by. This time we got to have a special guest star that happened to play Superman/Clark Kent in another TV series. The coincidences! Overall I liked the episode a lot. I felt very... discontent with the state of things at the end of the episode, but I still loved it! (Could anything make me stop loving it? I'm not sure.)

At least this week the plot of the episode was pretty good. A lot better than the Weather Girls from Fierce, that's for sure. I'll just ignore the fact that we have no idea who this Doctor is, why he is immortal, or how he became that way. But, with all that aside, it made for an interesting episode. We brought up yet again that Clark is going to live forever while Lana will die. Right... sad. But, it's not going to happen in this season (well, at least Lana won't die of old age). Though, Clark only seemed concerned about it while he was watching Dr. Knox mope over his dead girlfriend. Did this Knox guy remind anyone else of Frankenstein? I know, it's kind of a stretch, but when I saw him with his apron on ready to cut out organs to make another immortal being... it just reminded me too much of Frankenstein. Though, it's more like Knox is the Monster who has lived forever and wants an eternal mate. Right, but anyhow. That doesn't really matter too much, does it?

So what the heck is going on with Lex? I'm not quite understanding his character. He's trying to be a good guy by letting his patients from 33.1 go and live "normal" lives. Dr. Knox did have a point that erasing their tramatic experiences at 33.1 happened to profit Lex a lot, but it really does help the people so they don't remember the horrible reality of what happened to them. It just happens to help both sides. Win win! Though, Lex didn't bother stopping his evil side from coming out when he just unloaded his gun on Dr. Knox. Granted, he was doing it for a good reason (or at least with good intentions), but it's just another example that he doesn't really seem to mind when it comes to killing people. Though, this time he got lucky because somehow Knox is immortal. Clark just happened to know exactly where Lex was and when to arrive so that he could save his life and push Knox into the electric generator. It felt like Clark wasn't trying too hard to conceal his powers when he was talking to Lex in the hospital, either. He mentioned having to take someone else's life for Lex's. Somehow Clark was just able to kill Knox and save Lex's life. I geuss it's kind of what he's been doing through the entire series, it just didn't seem too secretive and lie-ative (Yes, that will be a word now) like it normally is. At least Lex didn't seem to care too much. He seemed genuinely interested in helping Clark find Chloe. I miss the super evil Lex. As much as I hated what he did, it was fun. We'll probably get him back by the end of the season. Mwhaha!

Chloe... aww, poor Chloe. Well, poor Jimmy, too. It's so tragic! Though, I'm still surprised at Chloe. She is being really emotional and selfish about this whole krypto-ability thing. Really, Chloe, just because you have a kryptonite-induced power doesn't mean that you are going to go crazy and want to kill all your friends. Honestly. Then she was bold enough to tell Clark that he didn't understand her urge to be normal. Okay, Chloe, besides that one time at the beginning of the season when you died and came back to life and saved Lois' life, your life really doesn't seem abnormal. It's a heck of a lot more normal than Clark's life is, and yet he doesn't understand the urge to want to be normal. I suppose her biggest fear is that if she heals someone again, she'll die and not come back. I guess that's a valid fear. I don't know, I was just disappointed. She ditched Jimmy! He was being the sweetest boyfriend in the world throughout the episode. Chloe was just shooting him down the entire time. "Would I be the worst girlfriend in the world...?" Why yes, Chloe. You would be. Terrible! Ugh. I'll be Jimmy's girlfriend for goodness sake. (Whoa, maybe not, since he is imaginary and everything. Psh.) That last scene was so reminiscent of so many Clark and Lana scenes where Lana is wanting to know what's going on with Clark and he just won't tell. Don't you learn anything, Chloe? Though, granted, it's not like just saying, "I'm a meteor freak" is that easy to say. But, she just completely shuts herself down. *sigh* What is she going to do now? Now Clark is taken with Lana, Jimmy will be taken by Kara, Oliver is gone, heck even Bart is gone. She's got nobody. Maybe it'll be like last season and her and Jimmy will be back together again in a couple of episodes. Yes, I'll stick with that. Hmph. And to think that I hated their relationship at first. Funny.

Now, Kara and Mr. Martian Oreo Man. I'm confused. That last scene when Oreo Man simply said that he had taken care of Dr. Knox makes me skeptical. Is he really a good guy? Maybe he's somewhat like Lionel (where the heck is he??). He has good intentions and just goes about doing them in a harsh and cruel manner. That would make Kara hate him, and Clark still see his good side. Sure. Though, that still doesn't explain the Oreos. Are we ever going to find out about those? Are Oreos really from Mars? I don't know. It's kind of strange. What's also strange was Kara flying out of the barn window. Clark didn't say anything at all! It reminded me a lot of Labyrinth when Chloe told Clark that he always chose Lana over her, and he didn't say a word, and she just rushed out in an outrage for him siding with Lana. (That was a long sentence. Did that make sense? Sure.) Clark didn't say a freaking word! He just looked at both of them, and she flew out the window assuming that he didn't trust her. Psh. I don't know what will come of her. I can't see her being bad at all. I haven't seen anything but good! I would be so disappointed. That, and she's supposed to be Supergirl, or Superwoman, or something, right? She isn't bad. I suppose we'll just see.

So, I'll ramble a bit more about Chloe. Well, and Clark. Whatever. I loved the scene when he came in and was trying to convince Chloe that brain surgery was not a good idea. He had such a concerned expression! Aww... he cares so much for Chloe. "You're going to forget me." Not only that, but your secret. You'd have to tell her again. Or go through another 5 seasons of hiding so she can find out on her own again. Oh man, that would ruin everything. Then Chloe told Clark something that she knew would make him feel trapped. "If you really want to save me, Clark, you'll let me go." (probably paraphrased) Oh, man Chloe! That's Clark's thing -- to save people. Letting you go is not saving you, but you're telling him that. He's torn! Aggg! Though, it makes me wonder who exactly Chloe was referring to when she told Knox that there was "someone" that she wants to live to see again. Jimmy? Clark? It's got to be Clark. It's got to be! Though, you know that the writer's made her say "someone" so we don't know for sure. Granted, she wouldn't say, "I know that I want to see Clark Kent again" or "I know that I want to see Jimmy Olsen again." That would be meaningless to Dr. Knox. But, you know, it still makes us crazed fans wonder. Though, I'm not wondering. It's Clark. For sure. Though, what does that mean? They can't hook up... Clark is with Lana. Lana. There's no beating Lana. And I love Clark being with Lana. Though, I would love Clark being with Chloe. Especially now that Chloe is all mentally messed up and now without a boyfriend. Agg! Torn! No, I'll settle with Clana. Yes. Yes, I will.

Speaking of Clana, what the freaking cravitz? It was going so well, and now we see that Lana is hiding something from Clark. For once, Clark is the one character that isn't keeping secrets from everyone. Everyone else is keeping secrets from everyone else! Craziness! Though, why on Earth is Lana keeping something from Clark? Seriously? The only thing that I can think of is that she's trying to protect him. Maybe for some reason she's doing something that will make him want to do something to Lex and somehow get himself hurt. I don't know. I have no idea where that freaking room is that she was in, either. Some secret room with a bunch of screens of... Lex's security cameras all over the mansion? Why is she spying on Lex? I'm so confused. You'd think she'd want to stay away from him. He kind of ruined her life for a moment there. I honestly think that she is doing something with the meteor infected people and researching them so she can "help" them... but she's still hiding something from Clark. Something bigger. She felt the need to lie to Clark about the 10 million dollars. Really, it doesn't seem like it'd be that big of a deal to just say that it was the only way that she could escape from Lex and come to Clark. It's not exactly free to get a ticket to China and fake a death. Though, not 10 million dollars. Hm. I don't know. Whatever reason it is, it doesn't seem like something big enough to hide from Clark. Isn't she the one who's always been against secrets? Now that she finally knows Clark's secret, she's decided to keep something from him, and he knows it. I hated that line that she said at the end, "I would never hide anything from you." [worried look] Tsk. Tsk. You know that Clark can see right through that, Lana. Couldn't you see right through all of Clark's lies? Though, I know. We have to make it obvious to us viewers that she's keeping something from Clark. Psh. What is it?? I really want to know. And why? Ahh! Questions! Questions everywhere!

What else? Did I miss anything? Oh yeah, why aren't Lana and Clark kissing at all? I know I commented on that in Fierce and how I liked it, but I just don't understand. I mean, we did see Lana kiss Clark on the cheek... but that was it. Why? Why hasn't there been more questions about the whole Clark being reluctant to have sex thing? It seems like they are ignoring all of the problems that their relationship had before. *rolls eyes* This is a fake relationship, Jephthah. Fake. None of it really matters. Psh... of course it matters. :D

It was rather exciting to see the Bee Girl again, even if it was short lived and she ended up getting some organs cut out. (Rather unfortunate.) Umm... I suppose that's all I have to say about that.

Next week, here I come!
