Smallville Ramblings

10.19 - Dominion

Clark and Oliver go on another adventure to the Phantom Zone and Clark makes a terrible decision without Lois. Holy cow, I would have been so upset with Clark if I were Lois. I probably would have reacted the same way she did. Freak out about the possibility of never seeing Clark again, convince Tess to not do as Clark said and wait for them to come back, but be so relieved to see Clark again. I don't really understand at all how time could have been altered that much just because of the crystal. Why would that happen? That's never happened before with the Phantom Zone. It was like they needed something to make more time pass and for something else happen to strengthen/put more drama into Clark and Lois's relationship. Either way, I'm glad Lois is Lois and I'm now fairly confident that they will get married next episode. Lois said it was in 2 days. Unless they make the next episode the following day and the finale the day of the wedding, it seems like the wedding would happen next episode. They need to solve the world's problems in the finale! All of them! I just want them to get married, gosh darnit. How long have I been raving about Clark and Lois getting married? FOREVER! IT MUST HAPPEN SOON!

It was fun to see Oliver back (I guess Chloe couldn't show her face?), and I'm glad that we finally got some follow up to him being marked with the darkness. It seems like that doesn't really immediately do anything to those infected, but whenever Darkseid wants to use him, he can. Or something. I liked how Clark made Oliver feel terrible when Oliver asked what the Justice League/Clark would do if they found out one of them was infected. "Well we'd obviously declare them evil, unfriend them on facebook, take them out of our circles on google+, punch them in the face a couple times for good measure, and then kill them. There's obviously no way that we could reverse the dark mark." "Oh, that's comforting. Thanks, Clark. I'll never tell you I'm infected. I'll just go save you the trouble and kill myself." Arg. There must be a way to reverse the damage. If they decided to kill Oliver right at the end of Smallville... *shakes fist at writers* Don't do it. Even though it's already been written and has already aired, I beg you to change your minds just for me. I wonder if good ol' Hawkman will come back. Maybe he'll come back in the finale to help them fight everything. Or maybe he'll come back next episode and help Oliver get rid of the darkness on him so he doesn't have to die. Yes, that's a great plan.

Yet again Clark's decision of healing Zod with his blood has led to catastrophic things. Zod can now use Clark's portal out of the phantom zone (except maybe not now because Clark took the crystal?). It's funny how Zod doesn't seem to thank Clark at all for that. "You saved my life, but because we're destined to be enemies and you were mean to me on Earth, I will torture and kill you. Ha-ha." What a jerk! I'm thinking that's the last that we'll see of him, though. There's too much bad stuff they have to fix already! Hm, another ex-regular character they have brought back this season. We are still patiently waiting for the real Lex Luthor and Lana Lang. I don't know why I care so much about seeing Lana, it just seems like it'd fit for her to come back. I've ranted about her death so many times you'd think I'd want her to never come back again. Maybe I just want to see her reaction to Lois and Clark getting married. Yes, I think that's it. So, Lex and Lana. I'm waiting. Very very very patiently. You only have two episodes left! Hurry up!

I don't really get Lois threatening Tess with the pistol. Sure, she really wanted to change Tess's mind to not lock out Oliver and Clark, but how was the gun going to help? We know she wouldn't really shoot Tess. If she shot Tess, would Lois really be able to stop it from self-destructing herself? No. I don't think so. She's awesome, but she doesn't seem to have that amazing do-anything-I-want-with-a-computer skill that Tess and Chloe have. I guess they wanted to emphasize what Lois was willing to do to save Clark (and Oliver)? Sure. I keep thinking that Clark wasn't really ready to sacrifice himself so other zoners wouldn't get out. It was like he was just planning on destroying it and thought that a couple of hours would be plenty of time. Except that's terrible logic. We've seen before that you are destined to be on Earth, Clark. WITH LOIS. You should have just planned on making it out alive (it's not the finale, after all! You couldn't die, Clark) and then destroying it afterwards. Would that have been so bad? No. Instead you just made Lois worried sick and upset because you were going to sacrifice yourself without even mentioning it to your FIANCE. Goodness.

I really got worried about Oliver when he was fighting Clark. Especially when he stabbed Clark. "Is he really working for Zod and becoming a bad guy? Has the darkness overcome him already?" I don't know. It did end up working out since he grabbed the crystal from Zod, but it did seem like he was a little nervous and trying to cover for himself a bit when he was explaining it to Clark and Tess. "Yeah, I totally had it all under control. I was just going with it and knew that Zod would want to kill you himself, Clark. Yeah, yeah. Sure. Why not?" I must say, that scene really was well done. I knew that Clark and Oliver would get out of there somehow, but I still was getting worried. "How on earth are they going to get out of this? Clark is going to die soon! He doesn't have powers and Oliver has apparently turned evil." But, it of course worked out. Phew.

At the very end when Clark went to see Lois I was a little curious as to why Lois was wandering around the house in one of Clark's flannel shirts and no pants. The thought crossed my mind that there was another guy there. "Well, you were gone for three weeks and I was getting bored..." No, no. That's a terrible thought. I knew that the real Lois wouldn't have done that to Clark, but what if something had possessed her? It's happened plenty of times before. I also can't help but wonder how Lois covered for Clark when he was gone for so long. "Oh, he's sick. Really sick. So sick I'm not sure when he'll be back..." Maybe they'll make some sort of comment next episode about Clark finally being back from visiting his cousins. That seems to be a common excuse for him. Though, they probably won't comment at all. That's just how Smallville goes, usually.

Well, I shall now go and watch the next episode where Clark and Lois MUST be getting married! They have to be!
