Smallville Ramblings

9.15 - Escape

What a fantastic episode! Clark and Lois run away together to some hotel that Chloe and Oliver "happened" to also be at. Clark apparently has more "control" so he feels like he can now freely have sex with Lois though it doesn't look like they actually have yet... besides in the future. Chloe and Oliver's relationship is... interesting, and there was some evil spirit possessing women to kill men! Episodes with evil spirits possessing people are just that much better, right?

I'm so glad that Chloe asked Clark about wanting to bring Lois to this bed and breakfast. All of us were thinking it: "Why would Clark suggest to go away with Lois to a hotel when he's not comfortable having sex with 'non-powered people?'" It's rather convenient for Clark that he now has more "control." If he had more control back in season 5 with Lana, it seems like a good amount of tension wouldn't have been in their relationship. Maybe things would have actually worked out better. Though, I'm glad he didn't. Now it just works out that he did right when he was with the right women. :) Though, I must wonder, Clark hasn't tried having sex with a human since having more "control" (I assume). It seems like it's still somewhat of a risk. I guess Clark is confident enough and loves Lois enough to want to go for it. I'm okay with that.

Speaking of non-powered people having sex with powered people, Tess and Zod? She's literally sleeping with the enemy! I guess Zod also has "control" like Clark does? This is all so strange. At least she knows his weakness and won't tell him. Though, now he knows that there is a weakness out there and will likely be able to find it himself. Tess is one smart cookie for figuring out he had powers. Yes, her "test" would have killed him if she was wrong, but I think she had enough evidence to confidently do it. No bullet wound, his confidence, dressing up in a black trench coat like Clark... you can only do that if you have powers, it seems. I'm not sure where their relationship will go, if you can even call it a relationship. It's like they slept with each other just so they could try to get information from the other or to be on the other one's "side." I don't know what to expect from it.

I'm not sure what to think of Oliver and Chloe's relationship now. It sure seems like Chloe is just in it for the sex. She freaked out when Oliver just got her one tiny little gift? Come on! I know she's still hurt and recovering from Jimmy (she must be) so she's probably terrified of another commitment only to see it end tragically again, but I don't think this is the way to properly cope. If you want to be in a relationship with somebody, I don't think it's fair to just want the sex with no labels or gifts. Having sex with someone is a huge commitment! How is that okay but giving one little gift is such a terrible thing? Okay, off my soap box I go. I just never thought Chloe would be like that.

Okay, so Zod is calling Lois? Now I'm very confused. When was the first time that he called? Why is Lois so motivated to help him? Not only that, but it's yet another thing that is going to get her in trouble because Clark doesn't know about it. She's working with the enemy without knowing she is, but Clark would be able to help if he knew. GAHH! For once it's not just Clark lying that seems to be putting a wedge in the relationship. They just need to stop all this stupid secrecy. If they really want to be together forever, then there needs to be trust and honesty. It's not like this is a new idea, especially in Smallville. Stupid Lois. Apparently Zod is going to use Lois somehow to figure out what weakens him. Which is also what weakens Clark. *shifty eyes* I'm nervous. So many good things are happening for Clark and Lois and so many things are leading to disaster for them! Eek! What I'm wondering, though, is if Clark was actually eavesdropping in her conversation. It didn't look like he was as he looked through the magazine, but that sure looked like a cover-up. If she was so secretive about it, it might be for Lois' protection for Clark to listen. Though, maybe he's trying to be a good boyfriend and not listen in to her private life even though he can. That would be rather good of Clark, though stupid at the same time.

Clark really hasn't seen Chloe naked before? It sure seems like he walks in on people being naked all the time. Or perhaps I'm thinking of Lois. He's seen her naked at least once, and she's seen him naked at least once. I suppose he never saw Chloe before, and she's never seen Clark. Interesting. Fun. It was funny to see Clark freaking out when Chloe just sort of walked in. I'm glad Lois doesn't seem to be angry at Clark for holding Chloe while they were both naked in the bathroom. Rather suspicious. Though, I think Chloe being possessed by an evil man-killing spirit is a good excuse.

I guess the two nights at the hotel went something like this for Clark and Lois: Night 1) Get in bed and start kissing--interrupted by terrifying scream in the woods. Go back to sleep definitely not in the mood. Night 2) Clark waits for Lois to "get ready" while taking a shower, Chloe walks in possessed and then possesses Lois. Lois goes and almost kills Oliver. They both go back to the hotel most definitely not in the mood for anything. Hmph. Too bad. That just means that we'll probably see them have sex in some episode later. We can only presume that they didn't after Lois hung up with Zod. Clark probably just looked up and said, "Well, it's late. I'll see you tomorrow." *kiss* Lame.

It was very nostalgic to see Oliver mention Chloe's yearn for Clark at the end. She admitted that she did love Clark (and still does, just like best friends), but that they are way history. Which is so true. Everyone knows that. There are probably a couple die hard Chlark fans out there still rooting for it, but they must know that there's no hope at this point in the series. Clois is where it's at now. I think the point of their talk was more to establish that they both have been burned by Clark and Lois. Their "scars" are always still there, but they are willing to move on with each other. I feel pretty good about that. Hopefully their relationship will mature a bit by the end of the season. I'm still not used to seeing them together. It's... strange.

This episode was quite fun. I can only hope that the next ones are just as good or better! Bring on the Cloisness!
