8.18 - Eternal
The end of this episode basically made me not like Chloe very much, and hate Davis even more. I really think he's a good guy at heart, but he's doing a really good job ruining everything ever. It would've just been better if the Kryptonite had just killed him instead of making him freakin' immortal. *sighs* Anyway, what else happened in this episode? We find out more about Davis's past and how sad it is that he's ended up the way he is. He was so close to having a life like Clark's but was instead picked up by Lionel Luthor. Sad day. Let's make a new paragraph to make ourselves more comfortable.
I have to admit, Davis was really cute as a little boy. Though, he did seem to always have this troubled look on his face, like he was always sad or in pain about something. Understandably so, since he's basically alone, doesn't know who he is or who anybody is around him, and then is left to fend for himself on the street. At least Clark wasn't dumb when he saw Davis when he realized who he was. "We should've been brothers..." Clark did act just like himself by throwing in, "Everything that's happened to you is because of me." Of course it is, Clark. Everything is your fault. Chloe is just back there crying her heart out. Davis is telling her to kill him, and Clark is telling her not to. What the heck is she supposed to do?? When Clark is in danger, she finally makes the decision to pull the lever and kill Davis... which only made him immortal. That's something I didn't quite pick up on until this episode. Everything painful that he goes through just teaches his body how to become impervious to it. Took me a while to get that one. There's got to be someway to kill him, though. Everyone has some sort of weakness... it's obviously not Kryptonite, so I'm out of ideas. I guess he just kills Clark and that's the end of Smallville. How exciting.
Tess pretty much knows everything, that's fairly clear. What's not clear is where that book came from and how she got it. How did that book have pictures from the meteor showing and of the ship landing and such? That's kind of... weird. I mean, it's convenient, but who knew that Lionel actually knew so much? Doesn't quite make much sense to me, but I guess it's a way to move the plot along and have Tess suddenly know everything. I'm not sure why Clark is being so dumb, though. She obviously knows about pretty much everything, why not just stop looking stupid and let her in on everything. She's been pretty nice lately and Lana seemed to actually get to her to be a somewhat "good" guy. Blech. I think her calling Clark "Kal-El" seems to be enough to let her in on everything. Hey, she also has the same device that Lex had to "control" Clark! Yikes! Good thing we know it just takes away his powers... and the only way to get them back is to bring him to the sun directly in space or something. Not sure how that would happen again. I don't know... things aren't looking too good for Clark. Especially when he acts dumb.
So Davis seems to have been pretty busy with killing people, if he was able to have a field of buried dead people. This isn't something that people have really been picking up on, either? I guess when you just kill the "troublemakers" and such, people don't notice as much? Have there really been that many bad people for him to kill? Well, I don't know. But, I'm pretty sure if I were Clark and used my x-ray vision to see a bunch of dead bodies, I'd probably barf right then and there. Ugh... disgusting. Then there's the question why he would go to that field to bury them? Why would he decide to bury them in the place where he and Clark landed? Some way to pay homage to his parents or something? Doesn't really make too much sense, but it's interesting to note.
It was cute to see Davis and little Lex playing together. I wonder if Lex remembers that. That's so weird... speaking of Lex, I think he's going to come back or something. Along with Lionel, for sure. *ahem* Okay, maybe I'll try to come up with some plausible theories. What was I on about before? Oh, it was cute to see Davis and Lex play together. It was! Back when Lex was a good guy...
I swear that paragraph was supposed to have more of a point... oh well. What else is there? I started to get excited when Chloe actually seemed to not like Davis from him being a killer and everything. And then Davis has to ruin it by becoming immortal and showing Chloe that she had to stay with him for Clark. Ugh... that seems to have some implications I don't really want to think about. Does Chloe really love Davis? I surely hope not. What does it take for someone to fall in love anyway? It seems to happen so fast in movies and television shows. They take one look at each other, and then it's BAM! "I love you!" "I love you, too!" Okay, I'll step off my little soap box. Maybe she does for some reason. Why does she have that calming effect anyway? Does it have something to do with this meteor power of healing people she may or may not have? Or does it have to do with Davis loving her for whatever reason and love is just that incredible that it can stop his killing urge? That might make some sense.
Okay, I think that'll do for this episode. I'm not sure what the next episode can have in store for me that'll make up for the disappointments we've been having. I can only hope for more Clois action or for Chloe and Jimmy to somehow re-marry.
