6.15 - Freak
This episode left me feeling dazed and confused, but in a good way. What's going to happen next?? What is Chloe's kryptonite power? Will Lana finally ditch Lex? I don't know!
Let's see, where to begin... well... this blind kid. He can point out meteor-infected people. That's a power that hasn't been covered yet, and it certainly adds a twist to things. I was sure that Tobias had mistaken Clark for Chloe and that he had really seen Clark as a "freak." I can understand why he wouldn't see Clark as any different, though. After all, like Chloe said, he wasn't infected by the meteor rocks. But, I thought that Clark would show up just... different. Like instead of glowing orange, he would be bright green or red or something. But, apparently not. Chloe is some kind of meteor freak. Oh man... I was so confused throughout about half of the episode. In fact, I'm still confused right now. I figure they've got to show what her power is within the next few weeks. If they didn't that would be really lame. What is it?? I wondered if her special ability is to hack into computers because, seriously, how does someone get that good at hacking like she is? She can do anything. Though, if that did turn out to be her power, I would be really disappointed because that would be really lame. "Oh, it's just the same old Chloe we've always known. It's just that now her strange ability to hack into anything is explained." Lame. That would be lame. What is it?? It made me think of the episode "Truth" from season 3. That was like Chloe was the "freak of the week" for that episode. She was a reporter and wanted to always know the truth. But, they can't bring that back again because that would also be ultra-lame. She seems to have matured since then, anyhow. Maybe she'll have some kind of seductive power and finally win Clark over... :) Yeah right, Jephthah.
I could probably go on and on about what Chloe's ability could be, so I'll probably go on about it later. For now, I'll ramble about how sweet Clark is! One of the last scenes when he went over to Chloe and told her that he could be considered her personal bomb squad... aww! He is such a great friend. I really like the relationship that the writers have developed between them. I mean, Clark heat visioned (yes, that's a new verb) Chloe's shoulder to get the tracking device out. (OUCH!) I did think about how awkward that scene would have been to film. Obviously, they couldn't see Clark's heat vision when they initially filmed it. Clark is just staring intently at Chloe's bare shoulder and they are holding on to each other. Oh, and add to that Chloe screaming at the top of her lungs. Teehee... that would be fun to watch. But, when you put it in the right context and add the special effects, it worked out quite nicely. I got so scared when Chloe grabbed the knife and was about to cut herself... pain to the extreme! Not to mention that it would be gory and gruesome to watch. Good thing Clark got the courage to burn her and in turn save her life. "It barely even stung." What a lie! But, with good reason.
Speaking of lying... Lex! Lex is a lying machine! And the great thing is that Lana knows that Lex is lying to her! She just hasn't had the definitive proof to make her go all Lana crazy and mad to abandon him. Oh, next week is when the get married, right? I'm sure something has got to come out to make her leave Lex, or get in a fight, or something! Clark has got to go on some jealous rage and do something crazy! Maybe he should whip out the Red K again! No, that would just ruin everything, but it sure would make an interesting show! But, I think I'm supposed to be rambling about Freak, not next week's episode. Bleh, whatever. I can ramble about whatever I want! So, anyway, Lex is lying to Lana a lot. He flat out denied knowing Tobias at all and claimed his meeting with the doctor a freaking coincidence. Does he really think that Lana is that naive? Didn't Lex say something like that to Clark? (about thinking Lana was too naive) He is such a hypocrite. Though, the difference between him and Clark is that he is such a better liar than Clark. You'd think that with all the lying that Clark has had to do he would get better at it. I guess not, but Lex is a pro!
Lana believes that Clark is a meteor freak. At least, she did. I'm not sure what she thinks now. Maybe that Tobias was lying to protect Clark for some reason? It bothered me that Clark acted somewhat surprised to hear Lana say that if Clark was a meteor freak that it wouldn't change him being Clark Kent. She said something exactly like that in "Extinction" back in season 3. Clark already knows that Lana will accept him for who he is. But, I suppose that's not really the issue anymore, is it? He just wants to protect her? Right, something like that. Wait, I take all of that back. I just went back and watched it again, and Clark really didn't act surprised at all. He seemed to be thinking that he already knew that, and it hurt him more to know that Lana would accept him. Maybe. I could be making all of this up, though. Lana is showing her love to Clark. She started to smile that genuinely happy smile after she told Clark that he'd be the same Clark Kent if he were meteorite infected. Oh, it's so tragic. She's been trying to protect his secret without really knowing his secret. She told two people about how Clark (not mentioning him by name) saved people every day and used his abilities for good. I so want her to find out! I'm really not sure what would happen, but it would just... Lex would go insane! Lana could die! Oh, the turn the show could take.
Oh! The bullet! Can Lana somehow get a fingerprint from that bullet and prove that Clark made it ricochet? I don't know how she can find that out without getting Clark's secret out to someone else. Though, I'm sure that she already knows that it was Clark who did it anyway. Getting the bullet checked wouldn't really do her much good. Clark kind of made it a give-away when he replied with, "The important thing is that you're okay." He said something very much like that back in Trespass. That's like his way of telling her, "Yes, I did intervene with my superpowers that I won't tell you about." It was cute to see them walking together, though. Clark closed their conversation about his powers and started to walk away, and Lana followed him! The least that the writers could do is make them friends, but it seems like they are either dating or on awkward/bad terms. Whatever. I'll get over it.
I feel somewhat disjunct. What am I talking about? I'll just go on about Chloe some more! Okay, so kryptonite seems to bring out an interest or exaggerate a desire a person has, right? So, Chloe is into journalism. She is really good at being a true friend and keeping secrets. She could umm... get super-hearing? Then she could hear secrets all the time and get the truth from people for journalism. Uhh... yeah, no. I can't decide what that power would be. But, like I said, they've got to tell us soon. What is it? What is it??
I really have no idea what's going on. What makes it worse is that I'll have no idea what's going on for more than a week... a new episode isn't coming until next month! Oh noes! I'll survive... somehow...
