7.13 - Hero
Overall a good episode. So many people we haven't seen in forever just popped back up! Well, perhaps not so many. I'm just thinking of Jimmy and Pete. Pete! Holy cravitz, Pete. We don't see you for about 3 years and you're all...jerkified. I guess it was the kryptonite that made him all mean and whatever? Sure. I'll go with that I suppose.
So, Pete gets an ability and decides to flaunt it. Good one, Pete. Maybe you finally got a taste of what it's like to be Clark for once. No need to be jealous. That makes me happy. It made me rather upset to see Pete tell Clark that him knowing his secret basically ruined his life. You would have preferred him to lie to you, Pete? What's wrong with you? Everyone else that Clark has told has taken it better than you have. Chloe has been awesome with it, Lana kissed Clark after finding out... Clark was being honest with you. You were his best friend and he let you in on his biggest secret. One usually thinks that that's a good sign in a relationship. Whatever. At least he seemed to be thinking straight by the end of the episode. It was nice to see him and Chloe kind of make up. Good times.
Though on how he got the ability... what the heck? First of all, why was there a pit of kryptonite in the gum factory, how did it get into the gum, and how had nobody else gotten any? And most of all... how the heck did Clark destroy it?? First of all, why didn't he fall to the ground and pass out from that load of kyrptonite? When a rock gets on his chest he's incapable of doing anything. Now when he encounters a big load of kryptonite-laced gum... he can just destroy it. Gotchya. I loved the fact that he just threw that in with the conversation with Chloe, too. "Yeah. I destroyed it, but..." Yeah. I'm sure it was that simple Clark. Whatever...
And Lana. She finally got a taste of what it was like to be Clark! That scene when she found Kara in the barn and she was just begging for Lana to tell her the truth, and then she just walked out after telling Lana that she's a terrible liar and person... umm... that was like a reenactment of every Clana scene ever done. The sad thing is that Clark was all for telling Kara. Granted, Lionel and Lana did have a good point of not telling her. "You're really an alien, but don't tell this to Lex, the only person you really trust right now, because we don't trust him." Yeah, doesn't seem too likely. Lex is really the only person that is somewhat familiar to Kara and she doesn't want to be told that he isn't that great of a person. Then she'll have no one. It's really a rather sad situation, and it's so reminiscent of Lana last season! Argghh! I really don't want to see Kara and Lex hook up. That just isn't right on so many levels. At least Clark was able to get the bracelet from Lionel.
Speaking of Lionel, what the heck is going on? How did he get the bracelet and why was he holding it from Clark? My only guess is that when whoever found Lex brought him back to Smallville (for reasons I don't understand) also picked up the bracelet that Lex had in his hand... or at least close to him. (I don't quite remember.) Lionel saw it and just... took it? Said it was his? Said he would give it back to Lex? Something like that. But for whatever reason, he decided to just hide it in that safe of his without anyone else knowing about it. I really don't understand why. Maybe to hide it from Kara (so Clark wouldn't give it back to her) so she wouldn't tell Lex about it? That's kind of farfetched. I'll go with it. There's a small possibility of them actually telling us what's going on. Maybe I'll wait for that to happen. Kind of like when I was waiting for Clark to talk to Lionel like he said. "We need to talk." Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Perhaps a deleted scene or something? I'll guess I'll just have to wait and see.
I'm so happy to see that Jimmy and Chloe are finally getting back together again. :) Yay! And to think... the beginning of last season I was so against their relationship. I had judged Jimmy to not be good for Chloe. I was wrong! I love Jimmy! He's so sweet and caring. Now he even knows about Chloe's ability. Maybe the relationship will stick this time. I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen with them. Did I mention I loved seeing them get back together? I do. :)
Going back to Pete for a moment, I think it's hilarious that both Lana and Chloe greeted Pete with a "Oh my gosh! Pete! It's been so long!" *hug* I really didn't know that Lana and Pete were that close. But Clark, Pete's best friend, he greets Pete with a "Pete, it's good to see you. What are you doing here?" Oh, and a handshake. Yeah... that makes sense. They hugged and cried when Pete left... he comes back and he gets a freakin' handshake? Uh-huh. Maybe Clark could tell he had turned into a krypto-jerk or something. It's a new power he isn't aware of yet. Umm... yeah.
Oh! Something else that seems interesting. What is going on with this crest and Lex? He did some research and the constellation in his family crest is the same arrangement as the stars were on the day of the first meteor shower. What the heck? I have no clue what that could mean, but it sure doesn't seem like a coincidence. Maybe Lex is Kryptonian! Yes! That's it! *clears throat* I wish I had heard/seen whatever the "something else" was before Kara rudely walked in and ruined everything ever. I suppose we'll find out eventually.
And one more thing. Clark is dumb. Yes, a fact I'm sure we're all comfortable with, but he's reaffirmed it in this episode even more. Why the heck is he hiding it in the barn like he did with his mother's crystal? We never got an answer for that (just an awkward moment and Clark looking away from Kara) and we probably won't get a good answer for this either. I guess so Kara won't somehow find it? Or something? Perhaps. I guess. It makes slightly more sense than when he hid the crystal in there.
