Smallville Ramblings

8.07 - Identity

What a fun episode! It sounded like it was going to be fairly interesting with the name "Identity." Clark is finally on his way to really becoming Superman! Oliver seems to be sobering up, Lois is in love with Clark (!!), Jimmy is one clever fellow, Chloe is turning friggin' evil, and many other wonderful things. Whoo-hoo!

At least we now have a reason for why Oliver was being such a jerk lately. He was recovering from finding out that his parents were murdered as opposed to just being victim to a tragic accident. Something hard to hear for sure. He just took it as an opportunity to bury his feelings in alcohol and doing whatever made himself forget everything. At least he seems to be in the right direction again. I'll just use that as the explanation for his decision to ask Tess out and then have sex with her. I suppose we're supposed to assume that he found out later that Clark and Lois weren't really engaged? Wow, that'd be hilarious if he still thinks that and that's the real reason he's drinking. "Lois didn't want a hero... now she's falling for a guy with more abilities and secrets than me... " *drink drink drink*

I love all these little hints we get that Lois really loves Clark. Aww, I love it all so much! I'm getting these feelings about a relatively new relationship developing that I haven't had since like... oh, season 1 and 2-ish with Clark and Lana. Lana is so the past. Lois is the freakin' future! Anyway, of course we got the scene when Clark just had to zip up Lois's dress. Then we get to find out later that she really enjoyed it and was relishing the memory. It was so near the top of her consciousness that Mr. Whatever-his-name-is got the memory just from that one touch. Aww, how sweet! I also loved the very beginning of the episode when she tried to casually ask, "Oh... Clark is coming to dinner?" She's just trying so hard to hide the fact that it bothers her a lot since she has all these uncontrollable feelings for Clark. Then Jimmy was even nice enough to point out that Lois gave Clark a compliment! Yeah! Man, I'm so psyched about their whole relationship. It's all so great. Oh! The glare that Clark gave... I should look up his name... Sebastian. Yes, that's it. Clark totally glared at him when he walked in and gave Lois those flowers. "What are you doing going out with my woman!" I'm pretty sure those were Clark's thoughts exactly. His face just tells it all. Aww, and Clark was just "looking out for" Lois. "Do you always wear so little on the first date?" No, he totally doesn't have a problem with the way she looks. Oh boy, it's all so awesome.

This is probably my imagination too, but I swear Lois had this guilty look when she agreed to go out with Sebastian. "I'm cheating on Clark in some weird way!" Thankfully we found out by the end that it was all on purpose because he was from Black Creek. Yay! Aww, she's all awkward around Clark too. It reminds me of middle school when I tried to talk to the boy I liked. I'd get all nervous. How adorable! If only Clark would show the same awkwardness so the awkward love can be shared! It'll all be so fantastic. I loved the fact that Lois decided to call Clark and not Chloe! They even emphasized that point by showing Chloe right after seeing Lois call somebody... Chloe's not answering. Who is she calling? Clark answers the phone. She called Clark in her time of need! We'll ignore the fact that Clark siad, "Hello" and Lois started talking right after that and then Clark claimed later that he didn't get the message... I guess it's possible Lois would just modify her memory to make it make sense. It sure does seem like a big coincidence that this guy showed up right after Lois decided to call Clark for help. Man it sure seems like Lois could connect the dots. I'm thinking she will by the end of the season. Right before they get married. YAY!

Speaking of connecting the dots, Jimmy did an awesome job of that! Though I really don't think he had to look at a family photo to notice that Clark wears red and blue. Come on! That's all he ever wears! Well, I suppose he does wear different clothes at the Planet. Though, he's known Clark a lot longer than that. You kind of catch on that all he wears is blue with a red jacket or vice versa. Oh well. At least he was able to figure it out. Too bad he still never "found out." I kind of wish Jimmy knew, but I know why Clark and Chloe decided against telling him. I guess Lana is kind of a good example of why not to tell people his secret. She ended up leaving him ultimately because she knew his secret. Sad day. I'm not sure if I'd want thim to be in the full Superman gear by the end of the season with the cape and all, but we'll for sure get him in some sort of outfit. w00t!! Let's see it!

Chloe. What the freakin' heck!! I guess Brainiac is really starting to make her evil or something? She actually KILLED someone! She killed them! On purpose! She was wearing black! My first thought when I saw the gloves... "LEX!!" Definitely not Chloe. That was just sad. She at least looked somewhat guilty when she walked out. Oh boy... that kind of makes she depressed. She was doing so well, too. Getting married to Jimmy, being incredibly smart, starting the Isis foundation... and now she's going to be evil. NOO! I really don't think that Brainiac could still be alive. It doesn't seem like Lana would've come out of her state if Brainiac was still alive. Man, I'm a little confused. I don't know how Brianiac could have made Chloe start to be evil. Why did it take this long? So many questions that need answering! Hmph.

Oh, I had another thought that stemmed from this episode. Clark mentioned when he had to pose as Green Arrow, and Oliver came back with, "Clark, you made out with my girlfriend man..." Yes he did! Mwhaha! And he liked it! Don't deny it Clark. :P Anyway, it sure seems like Lois would keep wondering about who this mystery guy was that posed as Green Arrow. She obviously loved his kiss and remembers it. In Crimson, she immediately remembered Clark from his kiss. If they ever kiss again will she remember that Green Arrow kiss? I sure hope so! Oh boy, that'd be a freakin' awesome scene. Eek! Look forward to that!

One last thing: I loved the reference at the end to the Superman movies. "I won't stop until I land the first worldwide exclusive interview. Watch me." Yeah you will, Lois! If that somehow happened in some magical way before the end of this season... holy awesomeness on a stick. Though, I'm pretty sure they just threw that in there to refer to the movie. Well, I don't know. She's going to be looking for this guy... she may not get the interview, but she'll at least be looking. I'm hoping she'll find what she's looking for and then Clark can hold her in his arms and... okay. I'll get out of my dream. We'll just see. :)

I think that'll be it for this rambling. What a fun episode! Let's see what the next episode has in store for us! Yay!
