Smallville Ramblings

9.08 - Idol

I was right! Clark and Lois totally talked about what happened in Crossfire and then made out again, though this time it was initiated by Lois and Clark was surprised and then kept kissing her back. Oh! It's so wonderful! I have to say the beginning of this episode completely made up for the lack of Lois in last episode. Cloisness everywhere! It's so fantastic! Let's keep this rambling going.

I really thought when the Blur was making all these "blunders" that it was Zod somehow trying to make Clark look worse. But, no. It was these two random people that somehow have powers (I guess meteor abilities?) and wanted to help spread the Blur's influence, or something. I'm glad they were cooperating. We'll probably see them later as helpers with the Justice League. Their powers certainly seem helpful. It was rather convenient at the end so Lois could be saved.

Okay, let's talk about that opening scene again. (And probably the last scene as well.) I knew that it must have been a dream or some sort of fast forward since Clark obviously wouldn't sleep with Lois right now because of his abilities and such, and he had a cut on his cheek. Then the end of Lois' dream confirmed this--she saw that silly red sun and such. Now, the good news is that this means that that scene will happen in the future (I presume) and that their relationship will only progress more and more! The bad news is that it looks like Clark will somehow lose his powers in the future. Lois may or may not know about Clark's secret... he might just lose his powers and then they'll sleep together. Kind of like Mortal back in season 5 with Lana. But, how is he going to lose his powers and how are they running out of time and... so many questions. It seems like Lois kissing Clark brings back these memories. At the end when they were making out she suddenly had the vision so strongly that she somehow lost consciousness. That's rather worrisome. I don't think she's done that before. I really hope the next episode resolves that pretty quickly. I hope it's not like, "Well, Lois blacked out when we kissed and I don't know why." "I'm sure it's fine, Clark. We'll worry about it in another episode." "Yeah, you're probably right." It better start with Lois being unconscious and Clark being worried by her bedside. It will be so wonderful. Then people will ask what happened to make her black out, and he'll have to say that they were making out in the copy room. PERFECT!

I about freaked out when Clark's voice changed and Lois immediately realized that the Blur was Clark. AHHH!! I really flipped out! "She finds out this soon? This episode isn't setup for time travel to fix this! Is she really going to know from here on out? Maybe it'll be like Chloe and she'll know without Clark knowing that she knows until the end of the season!" All of these thoughts suddenly flooded my mind. Then I thought, "Maybe it'll be like Identity and they'll somehow fool Lois into thinking that Clark isn't the Blur like they did for Jimmy." *sighs* Turns out I was right about that. Aww... Jimmy. I still miss him. I'm still waiting for when he comes back to life. Though, her memory wasn't changed or anything. She'll definitely still remembers believing that Clark was the Blur and how much sense it made. It'll probably make it easier when she actually does learn about Clark's secret. Though, I have to say... how could a "phone glitch" suddenly make the Blur's voice sound like Clark's? That doesn't make a lick of sense.

Chloe is apparently becoming Big Brother. A true watchtower over all of Smallville and Metropolis. While it's rather convenient, like at the end of the episode when she could suddenly convince Lois that Clark wasn't the Blur, it's also pretty creepy. How much has she listened in to Clark and Lois' conversations? How much does she know? What else does she do with her time? Does she really just stay up in Watchtower and listen to people's lives and spy on those she deems "need protecting?" Granted, if there was anybody I would trust with that position, it would be Chloe, but still... creepy.

Clark was stupid, yet again. Was he seriously considering coming forth and exposing himself as the Blur? I'm so glad he has Chloe to talk some sense into him. "Don't you remember what happened back in Infamous, Clark? Everything went terribly wrong." "Oh, Chloe. But things have happened since that episode, and therefore it will work out perfectly this time." Good thing he has both Chloe and Lois to straighten things out. I think he still would have gone forward after talking to Chloe, but Lois luckily saved the day. Yes, she exposed herself as knowing the Blur, but it works out so well because she does know him. She can tell people that she still knows the Blur, but not his identity since all he does is call her. She doesn't even have to lie! Well, until she finally knows Clark's secret. That will be so exciting.

It was cute to see Clark get out glasses at the end of the episode. I'm glad he's not going to keep wearing them--because he does look ridiculous. It's not like that would effectively hide himself from Lois, anyway. She certainly knows what Clark looks like without glasses so seeing him as the Blur would still be a giveaway. I'm glad it looks like Smallville is going to stay away from that ridiculous Sueprman tradition. I have to admit, Clark really does seem happier than he's ever been with Lois. Yes, I'm a bit biased, but seriously. He seems to feel more comfortable and less serious around Lois. When he's around Chloe or Lana (definitely Lana) he's anything but light hearted. Everything is life and death and so serious. But with Lois, he just has a good time. *sighs* It makes me so happy.

I was so hopeful that Clark would discover his ability of flight when Lois was dangling from the Daily Planet. Right when he really needed that ability and didn't care about his fear of heights and cared more about Lois than anybody, he would suddenly fly. Though, I somewhat doubted it would happen since the cameras were all there and Clark wouldn't want to expose himself, like Lois said. So, I guess the flight thing will have to wait for another episode.

Well, I think this'll do. We still don't know what the Kandorians or Tess are up to, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. On to the next episode!
