8.21 - Injustice
So, a fake Chloe. A surely interesting episode, though disappointing in that it didn't feel like the storyline was progressed that much. I guess that's not true. It just felt like we caught up on Chloe, and then suddenly it was back to where we were with her--still trapped with Davis to keep his beast contained. So many questions. Tess still seems to be trying to be good and yet is being evil while doing it. How is she able to track the beast? How did Davis notice? Why and how did Davis get away from Chloe to kill them? How mad did that make Chloe? Did she find out that he killed again? Will that make her question staying with him? Oh, the questions. Let's go.
Eva Greer certainly was a good actor being Chloe. She talked just like her and really looked terrified when Clark first found her. "Clark, I just survived a gothic romance with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I think I can handle anything you throw at me." I don't know anyone else other than Lois that would say something like that. I guess she did her research on her? I don't know. Greer... Tina Greer. She went to high school with them, right? I guess this was a cousin or something? Are we supposed to assume that she already knew Chloe and that's how she knew how to act? Can I throw one more question in?
We got some more great Clark moments in this episode as well. My favorite: "Are you sure the beast killed her? There's not a mark on her body." Good one, Clark. I was sure that Davis did kill them. Another thing in that scene... there was someone in the background with a flashlight. Was it a cameraman they didn't notice? Kind of freaked me out for a moment.
We have yet another episode to add to the list of episodes Clark has lost his powers in. It never really makes sense, though. How did this guy take people's powers? Is it just "powers" in general or meteor-infected powers? That would make more sense, but it's obviously just "powers" in general. Whatever the heck that means. I guess we can always assume that no matter how people take Clark's powers, kryptonite always ends up hurting them so that they give back his powers. Wasn't a big surprise there. Just like when Clark "found out" that Oliver did in fact kill Lex. Umm... Clark? Seriously? He's been out of the loop on that one. Clark was somewhat justified in asking why Oliver happened to have the ring at that time. Does he just bring it along with him wherever he goes just in case? It does seem to be a fairly handy thing around Smallville/Metropolis, but still. With it having the power of killing one of his friends it does seem a bit sketchy.
So now Clark can't keep pretending that he doesn't know what Tess is talking about whenever she calls him a Savior and whatnot. He has to be up front with her, which is refreshing. It gets annoying when Clark tries to cover himself when Tess obviously knows pretty much everything. Though, I'm a little confused by the ending. That was the same ball that Lex was going after that made Clark lose this powers, right? Right. Okay, so Tess apparently recovered it when she was looking for Lex... and now it's controlling her and telling her that she will be the Savior of Kandor? Hm. Is Brainiac somehow involved? If he is I will be seriously pissed off. He just has to be involved with the world ending in every single season finale. Every one. Let's just hope not. I don't know how this thing is talking to Tess or what it plans to do, but I'm interested to found out.
So, if Tess's team was able to track Davis and Chloe then that must mean that they are pretty close. How are they able to "track" them anyways? Just wander around, ask, and they'll eventually find their trail? Why hasn't Clark been able to do that? Maybe he's been "busy?" Well, either way Davis and Chloe are close for some reason. They could and should be farther away by now, but they are lingering around for some reason. Maybe there's some truth to what Eva said to Clark when she was pretending to be Chloe at the beginning. They were staying at a hotel when Clark suddenly decided it was time to leave. Maybe it's like that. They had been watching them. Though, it kind of seems like Chloe would be the one to decide when they would leave. Maybe. Actually, I could see Davis saying that if he felt like he was getting angry or needing to kill or something. Ramble, ramble, ramble.
I'm at least proud of Clark for sticking to his guns on "doing the right thing." He never wants to kill anyone and most of all assume that they are all bad. Which is somewhat ironic since he seems to think that about Lex, Tess, and Oliver. Not that they are all bad, per se, but he doesn't seem interested in "saving" them and keeps acting like an idiot around them. Or maybe that's just in general. He likes to act like an idiot around anyone. Sometimes he stumbles on intelligence.
Okay, that'll be enough for this episode. Let's finally see the finale! Goodness gracious.
