8.04 - Instinct
Clois! Clois is finally starting to become a reality! Unbelievably awesome, if you ask me. Still no sign of Lex or Kara, and we got a nice connection back to season 2! Nice! :) I wasn't too sure what to think of this Maxima character, but she made it possible for Clois to happen. Yay!
At the very beginning, when they made the crystal like... explode on them, I thought it was giving off that same screeching sound we grew familiar with back in season 2 and 3. I expected Clark to suddenly rush into the room holding his ears. Oh boy, that would've been exciting. Tess would've already stumbled into Clark's secret. So far I don't think she's had anything to really research Clark about. Unless Lex had some secret file on Clark and she's read up on it. Eh, I don't think so. Lex's interest had drifted from Clark and on to other things. Well... besides the whole Traveler thing. That was different; he didn't realize it was Clark. Whatever... that didn't happen. Instead the crystal just called this silly Maxima character so she could make out and kill some guys. Fun for her.
Aww, they brought Lana back into the picture. Just a little bit. That necklace... we never get rid of it. How did it end up downstairs anyway? Last time we checked, it was burried underneath some stuff in a box in Clark's room. I guess it got moved when Lana moved in and everything? Was there a discussion about it that we missed? Or maybe that was the best way the writer's could think to bring her back in to show that Clark still misses her. That's very possible. Either way, it made me sad. Again. Silly Clana. Distracting us and Clark from the real thing: Lois! Lois is who he's really destined to be with... right? Maybe he's destined for both. Polygamy all the way! *clears throat* Maybe not. But see, now he doesn't really have to choose because Lana chose for him! Or rather... he shouldn't really have a choice. I guess that's the problem. He can't really be with a girl because of his Kryptonian-ness. Hmph. It's so hard. It doesn't seem like it'd have to be so hard. If there just weren't always people trying to upset all of Clark's plans and be evil and such, then his girlfriends wouldn't be in danger. It's all so silly, really.
I'm really proud of the writer's, to be honest. I had always wanted/liked Clois. It was fun, but it never had the same feeling as Clana. Clana seemed to always be where it was at. That's what you really wanted to work out. I got those same feelings back this episode... but with Clois! No joke! The last scene when Lois came up to see Clark in the loft, it was so reminiscent of all the Clana scenes we've seen in the history of Smallville. They even had Lois dressed similar to Lana in the scene. I loved Clark's clueless face when he saw Lois in the elevator. It was like, "Lois? What? Why am I noticing you? Why do you have that look on your face? Why do I suddenly want to leave this woman?" Then he leaves and runs after her with his shirt still unbuttoned. I've watched that scene too many times. "I don't care what you do with your love life!" Aww, that's code for, "I'm hiding the fact that it bothered me that you were with that woman!" She's so confused and lost. Still having lingering feelings for Oliver, hanging out with Clark all the time... a long time friend. Clark still having lingering feelings for Lana, but spending all of his time with Lois... a long time friend. I'm so freakin' excited. Eek! Next episode!
Though, I'm not quite sure about Jimmy. How did he survive? What did the doctor's do to make sure he didn't die? The guy at the beginning seemed to have died almost instantly. Either that or he had just passed out on the ground... and stopped moving. Eh, I'm not too bothered by it. I would absolutely hate it if Jimmy died. Aww... such a sad day. Speaking of Jimmy, finding that note! Aww, that was such a sad scene way back in season 2. I loved that episode, by the way. Seeing Clark sick equaled awesomeness. Like I've said before, I love seeing Clark hurt. I'm just that evil and twisted. But that was a terribly sad scene. "Lana?" Though, I have a really hard time believing that Clark didn't know that Chloe felt that way about him. It's not something she exactly hid very well. They went to the Spring Fling or whatnot together. I guess guys really can be that clueless. He just didn't know that she really loved him that much? I don't know, man. He's talking like he never knew who his soulmate is or could be. Or is he thinking that it was Lana and he missed it? I don't know. He's got to be thinking about Lana while thinking through all of this.
Back to the note, though. It really got Jimmy thinking and all jealous of Clark again. It's all so sad, man. "Why didn't you say anything of these things to me?" Jimmy!! She freakin' said yes to marry you! When you're in high school your hormones are raging and she just had these feelings without getting them back. She had to get it out somehow. With you, Jimmy, she didn't have to hide it and didn't have to covertly tell you while you were unconscious. It's different. She's planning on spending the rest of her life with you. That and with you taking Clark away from Chloe, it leaves Lois wide open to be with Clark! It'll all work out nicely. Yay!
Oh my gosh... when Maxima threw Lois's car while she was in it, what the heck? There's no way ever that Lois would've survived that with one little scratch on her forehead. I knew that she would be okay... but that car hit those other cars hard. If she didn't die from it, she would've at least gotten seriously injured. But no, this is Smallville and she walked away just fine and dandy. Though, man, I just loved that conversation that followed. It really got Lois thinking. And it proved that Clark has an attraction to Lois. He wouldn't have been able to pull away if he didn't like her! Clark doesn't seem to realize it yet, but Lois is sure thinking about it. Oh man, it's so great. I'm so excited for what they are going to do with this.
So who took the crystal? Who would want to take the crystal might be the better question. Oliver? Someone in the Justice League? Lex?? Oh man, that'd be awesome! I really miss Lex. Well, and I miss Jonathan, Martha, Lana, and freakin' KARA! Just bring them back at least once. Anyway, who was the e-mail from at the end? Someone from the Traveler/Veritas group? Lionel back from the dead? So many choices. We'll see what those creative writers came up with.
On to the next thrilling episode! Yay!
