Smallville Ramblings

9.07 - Kandor

Of course Lois wouldn't be in the episode after her and Clark willingly make out with each other. How could I expect anything different from Smallville? Oh well. It was still and interesting episode regardless. We got to see Jor-El in person 20 years before he had Clark, and yet again he died in Clark's arms. That's got to be tough to have both your dads die in your arms. Clark really does have a tough life. And, now it's even tougher since Major Zod knows that he exists and has "stolen their powers." I'm not sure where this is going to go, but I'm not looking forward to it.

Now here's a question. How old was Jor-El when he and Lara had Clark on Krypton? He must have been fairly old. I mean... he must have been in his 20s or 30s in this episode, and then 20 years later they had Clark. He already knew who Lara was and referred to her as his wife... they must have been married 20 years previous. I definitely understand couples waiting to have kids, but 20 years seems a bit excessive to me. And apparently Zod already had a kid that died 20 years before Jor-El and Lara had Clark? They must live longer on Krypton or something.

I'm glad to see that the younger Jor-El seems like a good guy. He was willing to sacrifice himself for Clark and save Chloe when she seemed in danger. Though, when he's a voice he does some strange things, and tries to convince Clark of strange things. Clark seemed upset at the fortress Jor-El since he didn't tell him that his father was on earth... but I'm not sure why Clark necessarily had to know. It was probably to protect him, as we can now see.

Speaking of finding Clark's dad, Clark finally admitted to Tess that he was in fact Kal-El and was Kryptonian. That scene made me kind of sad. She really seemed scared of Clark and felt somewhat betrayed. As far as we can see she was honestly trying to protect Clark, and Clark is in stupidness decided to threaten her into telling him where Jor-El was. I'm glad he admitted it, since it was fairly obvious she actually knew everything, but he could have been a bit... nicer. Or at least listened to what Tess had to say. Ugh! Just like when Chloe and Ollie were trying to convince Clark to not go after Tess and all Clark did was super-speed out while they were talking. That is awfully rude, Clark. It's not fair that he can do that. If only I could suddenly super-speed away from conversations I don't want to listen to. Tsk, tsk, Clark. Didn't Jonathan and Martha teach you anything about manners?

I could somewhat suspect that Lois wouldn't be in this episode since it's something Smallville has done in the past... *cough* Bride! *cough*, but it's starting to get a bit annoying. When there were Clana/Chlark things in previous episodes, Lana and Chloe would still at least be in the following episode. Why do they decide to make Lois just completely not in some episodes? She is in the opening sequences, after all. And she's Lois Lane. The excuse they came up with was incredibly lame, as well. "I kissed her." "Oh yeah, that would definitely send her packing. I mean, no offense to you Clark, it's just Lois' typical response to intimacy is usually to blow out of town." SINCE WHEN? Since you had an episode you wanted to stick in this part of the season and didn't have room to continue the Clois storyline and had to make up a lame excuse? That's what I thought. When her and Ollie first hooked up she didn't run away for an episode. LAME. Oh well... that means that the next episode is bound to develop the Clois relationship more, right? Or at least they'll both confront each other about what happened and make out some more. I'm pretty sure it'll happen. I hope.

It seems like I was somewhat right about Clark's intentions when he went to see Lois. "I just don't know what happened. I went over there to talk to her and the next thing I know I couldn't stop myself." AHH! YES! He couldn't stop himself from kissing her? That's exciting to hear. I loved Chloe's response as well. "Yeah, I'm not surprised, Clark. You've had feelings for Lois since, like, the 1930s." What an interesting decade to choose, Chloe. :P Clark Kent has had feelings for Lois Lane for about that long.

It looks like Stuart is helping out Chloe. I'm presuming when she mentioned her mole at Luthorcorp, she was referring to him. I'm not sure who else would know that much information and would be willing to share it. That's good to hear. I hope this will lead to more inside information. Maybe the Justice League and Tess can work together! She honestly seems to be wanting to help Clark and make the world a better place, so I think it could possibly work out. That would be fun. I'd love to see Tess become a "good guy."

What a fun season this is becoming. If I had known this much Cloisness would be happening so soon, I may have started catching up sooner. :)
