Smallville Ramblings

10.17 - Kent

More of Earth 2 evil Clark? Slightly lame. Clark and Lois still aren't married. I'm getting worried that they are saving their marriage for the finale! We're getting so close to the end! Maybe not, though. Maybe they'll get married and the finale will be them conquering this darkness with Lois by his side as his wife. Yes, that would be great. I got a little hopeful at the beginning of the episode when Clark said that he would see Lois at the altar for a few moments. I thought he said "in a few moments" instead of "for a few moments." Though, I was doubtful because I'm pretty sure the episode that they get married will start with Lois looking in the mirror in her wedding dress and/or Clark wearing a nice tux and/or seeing people doing last minute preparations for it. You know, like they have for the past two episodes where people got married. Actually, there's been more than that. Lex got married to that one girl in Heat, and he married Helen, and he married Lana. Goodness, Lex. You're taking up all of the marriage episodes, you still don't have a wife and you're dead. Maybe. Anyhow, it'll happen soon. I'm hoping not the finale.

Good thing Emil and Tess were watching out for Clark and put the "mirror box" back together again. You knew that when Clark destroyed it that it would have to be put back together again later. I'm also glad that Clark got to see his Dad, even if it was on a different Earth where he wasn't actually his dad. These people put so much faith in this other Clark. Well, I suppose it makes perfect sense. Lois knew it was the other Clark because he knew what he told her on the roof, and Clark was able to prove to his dad that he knew all sorts of personal details about him and the house. Aww, if only he had been able to give him a hug before being sucked out of the world. Oh well. I'm sure he preferred being back with Lois in his real Smallville land than being in a world where everybody carries around kryptonite and wants to kill him. Not a land I'd want to live in as a kryptonian.

I'm glad that this other Clark didn't mess things up too much. He could have gone around and just killed random people, but he didn't. He was obsessed with Tess and killing Lionel. It was cute to see him attracted to Lois. "You're kind of cute when you squirm." "Okay...bonus, anyway..." At least they confronted the issue that Tess has feelings for Clark. Ugh. Not only that, but apparently Clark must have feelings for her deep down if this other Clark wanted her so badly. Maybe. That's a bit of a stretch. Though, we all know that he obviously prefers Lois. Lois is the one for him. I'm glad Tess stood up for herself. Just last episode she wanted to kill Lionel, but then was convinced by Lois to just expose him as a fraud. Now when an evil Clark comes in and gives her to easy opportunity to kill him for her, she didn't take it. That's quite admirable of her. She was willing to risking her life for Lionel's. Really, my respect for Tess has really increased. I like how she started to question herself at the end of the episode, but her beloved Elvis/Emil was there to tell her that she really was a good person. She admitted that she has feelings for Clark and was strangely willing to run away with him, but she's a better person than to actually give in to that.

I'm impressed with Tom Welling's acting in this episode. He really did a great job in making it so obvious and subtle which Clark he was. His voice was a little deeper as evil Clark and he just held himself differently. He does a pretty good job looking evil. Did good Clark really convince evil Clark to turn his life around? "I know you're a good person inside because, frankly, look at me. I'm an awesome person. I'm this world's greatest hero, I save lives every day, and I have a hot fiancée. Wouldn't you want to be me? I know you can be because you are me!" "You're right. Lois is hot. I'll turn my life around so I can be with her in this world. Oh, and save people all the time so they'll stop carrying kryptonite around everywhere they go. That'll be a nice perk." That's the conversation that we missed in the episode. That's exactly how it went down. I know these things.

I like how the episode ended with a cleaned up Jonathan going to see Martha, though it seems a bit silly to me. Yes, it's cute and somewhat reassuring that Jonathan and Martha might work things out because of Clark, but this is in an alternate world that I feel like we won't see again. It ends that way and I feel like the chances of us actually seeing what happens is very small. Now that I say all that, I just know that the finale when they are defeating the darkness will include them going and grabbing the now good-evil Clark to help them out in some way and we'll see that Jonathan and Martha are now living at the farm happily ever after. Meh, maybe not. I guess Jonathan and Martha were married for some time in this alternate world since she was Martha Kent and didn't change her name back to whatever her maiden name is. Well, it is a pain to change your name... I don't blame her.

Holy creeper, evil Clark! When Tess got the dress that evil Clark so lovingly sent her and then he appeared out of the darkness--goodness! I was scared and I, unlike Tess, know this show isn't real! He just pops up, whispers he knows her every move, and then disappears again. Is that the way to win a woman's heart, evil Clark? No! You should learn a thing or two. Maybe now that you're back in your world and possibly trying to be good again Lois can teach you a thing or two.

Gold kryptonite. I should have mentioned them mentioning it back in Luthor. They claim that this kryptonite will take away Clark's powers for good, but that doesn't make much sense to me. 1) We all know that nothing happens for good in Smallville land, especially something as trivial as Clark's powers being taken away, and 2) How did evil Clark get that scar on his arm from gold kryptonite if it takes away his powers? It seems like it's like green kryptonite but whatever damage is done to him with it is permanent. Maybe. Evil Clark obviously still has his powers and was obviously exposed to gold kryptonite. We all know that Clark will likely be exposed to it but it'll all turn out okay in the end. Especially since it's the final season. We know it'll have to end happy. If it doesn't, then all ten seasons of watching Smallville will have been a waste. A complete waste!

So Clark and Lois are thinking of moving to Metropolis. Sure, it makes perfect sense that they would move there since they work there and everything, but the commute certainly isn't a problem for Clark. It doesn't seem like they'd have to sell the farm if they wanted to move to Metropolis. I assume that they own the farm and don't have to make payments on it. Couldn't Clark just come back and keep up with it every once in a while and still live in Metropolis with Lois? Meh, maybe they are just trying to move on to make the story end with the Superman setup we're all familiar with. I just don't see why the farm has to disappear. Maybe Oliver and Chloe can live there. Yes, that's a perfect plan. Aww... Oliver and Chloe. I didn't even realize that we haven't seen them since Fortune. I didn't even miss them or realize they were gone! They better show up for Clark and Lois's wedding. Them and Lana. And Lex. Yes, it'll be great.

I shall now move on to the next episode. They might be getting married! The real Lex might be coming back! Lana might pop up! The darkness might take over the world and ruin everything! It'll be great.
