Smallville Ramblings

7.06 - Lara

What a fun and exciting episode. We find out more about Kryton's past, Lana is hiding something huge that we don't know about yet, Clark is hiding the fact that he has the crystal from Kara for some unknown reason, Lionel continues to save the day, Jimmy and Kara are hooking up and Chloe is left out in the cold with everyone's secrets. Excitement!

Jimmy decided rather quickly to just give up the secret he promised to keep for Kara. Convenient for the plotline, but I'm disappointed in his secret keeping skills. And I thought he liked her. That's okay, I'd probably do the same thing. Though, I do think it's kind of odd that Chloe and Jimmy don't seem to have too much of a problem talking to each other. Though, Jimmy did give Chloe a nice zinger when he told her that Kara doesn't lie to him... or something to that effect. What I remember is that if I was Chloe, it would have stabbed my inner core. Nice one Jimmy! Though, I'm not really seeing where this relationship is going to go. I mean, it's cute to see Kara and Jimmy together, it just seems a little odd. What's also odd is what to call it. Kimmy? Jara? Both don't really work for me. Well, Kimmy might work, it just sounds too much like a nickname for Kim. Whatever, I guess it doesn't really matter that much. I'll just call it Kara and Jimmy's relationship... or something.

So, Lana doesn't know that Chloe is a metoer fr-- sorry... meteor infected, right? Lex knows, and Clark knows, but that's it. So sad. It's such a friggin' cool power too. Well... except for the whole nearly dying part. But being able to heal fatal wounds seems awesome. I don't think that Chloe is going to go insane like most meteor freaks do. Though, it is interesting because I've been watching some season one episodes, and it just seems to be a given that when someone is infected by the meteors, they have this irresistable urge to just kill people. They seem to lose any concept of right or wrong. I suppose if I actually lived in a town like that and then realized I was also infected, I might be scared for my judgement. It just seems like if I was consciously thinking about not going insane, that I wouldn't. Maybe. Maybe I'm not making any sense at all. What was I talking about in the first place? Oh, right. Lana knowing Chloe's power. Maybe Lana suspects something already about Chloe since she was there "researching a story" and Clark was talking about how a story about a doctor curing meteor infected people could change Chloe's life... well, maybe not. Chloe has always been obsessed with the metoers. It's not too far fetched. I don't think I'm getting anywhere. I'm just going to start a new paragraph.

Lana, what is she really up to? She's honestly got an organization to help the meteor infected people and she claims she has it because she's trying to help all of the people that Lex hurt. I think that's part of it, but there's obviously more to it if she's not telling Clark about it and requested for Chloe not to tell Clark about it. Remember back in Promise when Chloe knew that Lana was lying about jitters and the wedding and she chose to ignore that she could see right through Lana's lame excuse? Yeah...umm... I had a point. Oh, right. Chloe could see right through Lana yet again, and yet she chose to ignore it. In Promise Lana ended up learning Clark's secret, or at least seeing his powers first hand. This time... I don't know. She's got something up her sleeve. It doesn't seem like it's good, at all. After seeing what she did to Lionel and her response to him in the loft, she definitely seems to have something evil hidden in all of this "good doing." What it is, I'm not sure. Oh, what I am sure about that I wasn't sure about last episode (or was it the one before that?) is where that room is with all of the monitors. It's in her foundation! Yeah... umm... that was a profound discovery. Glad I got that out of the way.

Kara. We finally see what she's been up to. It was kind of cute (in an odd way) to see Clark show up and tell Kara to let go of the man. "Now Kara, sweetheart, just put the nice man down so we can talk." It was like a father rebuking his daughter, which seems to be the role Clark is taking in their relationship anyhow. Though, I do feel bad for Kara because she had such a high opinion of her father and now it's been completely crushed. Though... it does make me wonder how her memory got the entire conversation between her father and Lara even when she was outside of the door. Whatever... I'll get over it. It was sweet to see that Clark got a picture of his biological mother, and that it was in a picture frame of his real mother, Martha. Aww... I miss Martha. I guess we are going to replace her with Lara since it seems like Clark is going to clone his mom. Ugh... dumb Clark.

Okay, I'll ramble about the stupid crystal. Why the heck did Clark take it and not tell Kara about it? When did he take it? After watching the scene when he first finds Kara, it makes me think that Clark had the crystal then. The way that he said, "Forget about the crystal, it could be anywhere" really makes me think he was just trying to convince her to stop looking for it. Wasn't he all gung-ho about helping Kara find that crystal before, and now he's just telling her to forget it? I don't know. Though, why would he hide it from her then? Just from Mr. Martian Manhunter Oreo Man's warning that her family was dangerous? Perhaps. Though, I guess at the time he was just trying to get Kara to forget about her mission and go home. Jephthah, if he showed her the crystal right then, then I don't see why she wouldn't just go home with him then. Well... maybe. Maybe it's all because of the Manhunter's warning against her family. I really don't know what's going through Clark's mind. This is so odd! We never don't know what Clark is thinking about! It's always the other characters. The only character that I really feel like I understand right is... Kara. Yeah, Kara. She isn't going to betray Clark, has stopped looking for the crystal, and seems prepared to live her life in Smallville and adapt to the human way of life with Jimmy. Sure, I understand Jimmy, too. But why Clark? And for once all of the secrets being kept aren't between Clark and Lana. Well, at least there aren't any secrets that Clark is keeping from Lana. We're still not sure about Lana. (Yes, between the fourth paragraph and now, I still don't know.)

Hmm... it seems like I was talking about Clark and never finished my thoughts about him. So, why did he take the crystal? If he took it when I think that he took it, then it wasn't with the intention of cloning his biological mother. So, maybe that's not when he took it. But, if it wasn't then, then when was it? Maybe Lex somehow took it when he first came into the lab and when Clark came to find Kara at the mansion, Lex decided to give it to Clark just because he loved him so much. You know, Clex. It's all there. :) (I so plan on making a music video about them next summer.) Or maybe Lex took it and Clark scanned the place and saw that Lex had it and didn't worry about it until he found out about his mom's DNA being inside, then he decided to steal it. Sure... or not. I don't know. I feel like my mind is swimming. Swimming in so many Smallville ideas and theories!

Oh yeah, something else I was going to talk about. Kryptonite. Does it really affect Clark or is it all in his mind? It really makes me wonder, because when he needed it, he could summon his strength at will when he was saving Kara. Though, speaking of that scene, I thought it was hilarious. I mean, Clark just busts in the room with the very subtle act of bending the wall back so he could give himself away immediately. Not only that, but once he gets inside to room to rescue Kara, he immediately falls to his knees from the Kryptonite. Way to go, Clark. You gave away your secret and killed yourself in 5 seconds. Anyhow, about the kyrptonite. He didn't seem to have too much trouble ripping off the metal on Kara even though there was Kryptonite all around him. Maybe it's like Labyrinth when the doctor showed him Kryptonite and he immediately started to look pained, when he obviously wasn't affected by it. I swear, I never know how much it actually hurts him. That's okay, I'll get over it. It's Smallville after all, and one of the things that I love about it is how it doesn't always make sense. (Odd, yet true.)

Well, I think this ends this fantastical rambling. A nice episode that gives me tons of questions to occupy my mind when I get bored. Where will it all go from here? I'll see on Thursday! w00t!
