Smallville Ramblings

10.10 - Luthor

This episode left me feeling kind of weird and disappointed. I wanted to punch Clark in the face when he told "Lutessa" that the Luthor blood is like poison. Goodness, Clark. Haven't you learned anything? Not mention how STUPID Clark was at the beginning. "Oh, a random kryptonian thing that I've never seen before. Let me just twist it and see what happens. Nothing bad ever comes from kryptonian relics." GAHH! Why on Earth would you do that, Clark? Way to take up an entire episode with your stupid doppelganger when you could have been proposing to Lois. Goodness gracious, Clark. If you were a real person, I would grab some kryptonite brass knuckles and punch you in the mouth. It would hurt. But, you'd heal, so I wouldn't feel too bad about it.

Alright, alright, we get to see what Clark would have been like if he had been raised by a Luthor. He's pretty terrifying, I must admit. A Clark that enjoys killing people with no conscious certainly sounds terrible. But, yet again we have affirmed that Clark DIDN'T get picked up by the Luthors and was raised by the great Kents. Why must we go through this again when Clark and Lois are so close to getting engaged? Seriously? Alright, maybe I'll stop whining about it. No, I won't. I can't. I was glad that they didn't spend too much time in real Smallville land seeing how much the doppelganger Clark was ruining things for everybody. At least he didn't kill anyone. We are happy, yet again, that Chloe made those kryptonite weapons. Somehow they got Oliver there. I'm not sure how, but it's a good thing. It was so sweet to see Clark turn to Lois to convince everyone else that he was the real Clark. Aww... she could see through to his heart. *sighs* They make me so happy, have I ever mentioned that before?

It must have been pretty painful for Clark to see Lois with Oliver, and Lois hating Clark. Though, she seemed to have a soft spot for him even in this alternate universe. When Clark was going on about all the things he knew about Lois, she really seemed touched. "I'm feeling some sort of connection with this guy, why? WHY??" Oh, Lois. It's because another version of you in another dimension already loves him to pieces. That's why. It was pretty funny when Clark got those flowers for Lois. "Nothing says, 'Sorry my doppelganger from a parallel Earth tried to kill you' like flowers." "I think there's a card for that now." "The store was out." Clark would have needed at least two of those cards now. At least this doppelganger didn't pose as Clark and sleep with Lois like Clark's other doppelganger slept with Lana. *shivers* I hated that. HATED IT. Though, this doppelganger wasn't as good at pretending to be Clark (he just wanted to kill everyone--that's a bit of a giveaway), AND Lois knows Clark better and would catch on to it being a fake Clark before they ever slept together. Yet another reason why Lois is better for Clark than Lana. SO much better.

So Lionel came back through with Clark. Why did he end up somewhere else and not in watchtower like Clark did? It was kind of fun having Lionel back on the show, though I liked him much better when he was somewhat good. He's completely and utterly evil in this dimension. Is he going to meet up with Lex and make him an even worse person? Yikes. He should just be killed again. Hey Lex! You want to do it again? I'd be completely okay with that. It's a little surprising that Lionel decided to name Clark "Clark" in this parallel universe. It seems like he'd want something that started with L, like the rest of his family and kids. "Clark Luthor" sounds really weird. Not to mention creepy. And "Ultraman?" Seriously? I actually think that sounds a little better than Superman. People just have known and heard "Superman" a lot more so they think it sounds better. The symbol for him was a little strange. An upside-down Superman symbol with a U. How would they know that symbol and think to turn it upside-down? "This is my Kryptonian symbol, but I'm going to deny it by turning it upside-down and putting my own letter inside of it." Sure.

What the heck are they doing with Clark and Tess? I can deal with this stupid Clark from this parallel world wanting to be with her (but his adoptive sister? Isn't that just a little weird?), but then Clark HELD HER HAND at the end of the episode? What in the world is he doing? I know he's trying to help her feel more accepted and deal with being a Luthor, but why act this friendly? I know that he and Lois are crazy about each other and he would never want to hurt her, but it's really getting me worried. If they hook up for some reason, there isn't time left in the season for him and Lois to get engaged and married! Don't do it Smallville! PLEASE! You've already ruined so many good relationships for me. Lois and Clark are my only hope. It's fake, Jephthah. It's okay. No it's not! It can't be fake! *takes a deep breath*

At least Clark and the crew now know that Tess was keeping Alexander under her watch. Actually, does everyone else know about that? That makes me hate Tess and Clark even more if Clark didn't tell anyone else. After everything with Lois he certainly would tell her that, right? Well, Clark did get pretty upset for her lying and everything, but as he admitted at the end, that's exactly why she didn't want to tell him. She really was trying to protect him. She just wanted family... and now she knows that her family is evil and dead. Not the best of news to hear. But Clark, you can comfort her in many other ways besides seeing her alone and holding her hand. Not to mention when the alternate Clark started kissing Tess she at first tried to stop him, but then kept kissing back. Does she really want him? That's so awkward and stupid! Please don't! PLEASE!

All I want is Tess to be happy with some sort of family (maybe she can hook up with Oliver again? I'd be okay with that), Clark to propose to Lois, and... well, that's it. That's all I want. Please just do it soon, Smallville. We're almost half-way through with the final season and it must be done.
