Smallville Ramblings

9.02 - Metallo

Well this episode was interesting. I'm glad to see that John Corben is a creepy psychopath that quickly left the Daily Planet. I'm also glad to see that Clark is starting to lose a little dumbness and went back to the Daily Planet. Maybe now Clark will go back to his Red and Blue?

I thought Corben's reason for hating the Blur (just "Blur" now that he's no longer red and blue...) was interesting. I can see why he was upset at losing his sister, but that's certainly not a reason to stop Clark from doing all the good he does. Yes, if he hadn't "interfered" by saving that bus of people, John's sister would still be alive, but what about all the people that are alive because Clark saved them? They certainly don't complain about what Clark has done for them. I think it just goes to show that people in general just cannot be satisfied. Celebrities will always be criticized for their decisions and for who they are. It's inevitable. One of the many reasons why I don't want to be a celebrity. So much pressure and criticism.

I don't like the idea of Corben coming back later in the season like they strongly suggested. He really is just a super-charged angry man who hates Clark and walks around with Kryptonite in his heart. Uh oh... he knows that Kryptonite hurts the Blur. And he knows what the Blur looks like. Does that mean that later in the season when he comes back that he'll be able to tell Tess and they'll try to kill Clark somehow? This doesn't look good, folks.

I'm also curious why these Kandorians don't have any powers and where exactly they went. How does making a meteor-powered angry man get them closer to getting their powers back? If they did indeed design this guy, that must also mean that Kryptonite doesn't affect them. Also, how many are there exactly? They apparently have left their symbols all around the world. Does that mean that there are thousands of them? And who was the guy in the Superman symbol on the ground? Could it possibly be a clone of Clark? Jor-El? This'll be interesting.

I'm not a fan of this new guy Tess has around her now. Who is this Stuart guy? Where did he come from? Why did Tess decide to hire him? He's obviously pretty smart (and knows he is) and really young. Tess probably saw part of herself in him since she apparently also was very smart at a very young age. It's too bad Stuart is getting mixed up with the wrong side. Tess is the wrong side, right? She still seems pretty evil, but does have some good intentions, like Lex. Though, she hasn't gone off the deep end like Lex did. What does she want with these Kandorians anyway? To find them and kill them so they don't take over the planet? To enlist their help in making her all-powerful? Maybe a combination of both? She'll kill them all, and then people will put her on a pedestal for saving the world.

You know that Lois must have been missing Clark quite a bit to decide to wander into his barn and check up on the farm. (How far apart are Metropolis and Smallville again? They seem right next to each other.) Then she took Shelby! I loved Chloe's comment when she found Shelby in her apartment, "So you decided to call him out by dognapping his furry friend?" Yes, she did. Lois dognapped Shelby so Clark would wander back to her and they could live happily ever after. I was with you, Lois. Good plan. I also liked that it appeared that she came by Clark's farm instead of going out with John Psychopath Corben. That was definitely a good choice.

I think it's so funny that Lois doesn't want to admit that she misses/missed Clark. When Chloe brought it up, she just brushed it off. "Please, I don't miss Clark. I just can't stand the new guy that's at his desk!" Yes, Lois. We all believe you. We believe you and all the other Lois Lane's in Superman that have denied missing or caring about Clark.

I was so glad to see Clark come back to the Planet at the end! Oh my goodness! YAY! We get more Lois and Clark banter time! I loved how Lois couldn't resist running up and giving Clark a nice big hug, and then promptly deny that she missed Clark. Yeah... that's why you kept Clark's nameplate in your desk for when he came back. I'm happy that Chloe keeps pushing both of them to admit their true feelings for each other. She just straight up told Clark, "Lois means something to you -- something more." Then Clark gives a great stare of, "Well... yes, but I won't admit it to you!" I was glad that Clark said that he missed Lois back in the office. And then he says that he would love to hear all about her adventure with psychopath man and the blur. Aww, the smiles on their faces... LOVE! L-O-V-E! LOVE! Lois and Clark, will you two ever admit your love for each other? Ever? At least I can still hold on to the dream that Lois keeps having. There's got to be an episode coming up that will explain it to us. Next episode? I can hope.

I wonder how angry Jor-El will get to see that Clark has definitely not said goodbye to Lois, but actually came back and is now working with her again. I wonder if Clark will continue his training with him. Hmm... questions, questions, questions. Questions that will hopefully be answered soon!
