6.19 - Nemesis
What a fantastic episode. There's so much to ramble about! Clark and Lex finally talking to each other, Lana's dark side coming out, Chloe being Chloe, Lionel confusing the heck out of me, the Justice League doing their thing behind the scenes, and Lex continues to do experiments on people. Ahh!!
Okay, we'll start off with the less-important stuff, as usual. Chloe's line to Clark on her cell phone was hilarious. "Hey, Clark, it's me again. Where are you? I feel like your stalker ex-girlfriend, even though I was never your girlfriend. It was just an analogy--a bad one. I'm sorry, this is awkward, okay, call me!" Though, they never were officially together? Not even at the end of season 1? I guess not. *sigh* They should be. Well, no. They shouldn't. Lana should be with Clark right now. But as soon as she dies or somehow loses Clark's interest (uh... right), Chloe is next in line. :)
Okay, so Kryptonite seems to vary in strength. Usually Clark immediately falls to the ground and moans and groans in pain when he encounters Kryptonite. In this episode he was able to stand up and walk away from it and even crawl through a hole with kryptonite in it. It's incredible that he can do that and not just throw the kryptonite away from him any other time. Oh well! Whatever. Oh, and why was there a bunch of kryptonite down there in the first place? Deep underground in tunnels? Just to make this episode more interesting and to protect Clark's secret? Yeah, I think that's it.
It was cool to see Lex and Clark working together again. Seeing Lex help Clark down the hallway to escape with his arm around him was reminiscent of when they were "friends." It seems as though Lex still has a small speck of good in him after all. Though, what I did think was funny was Lex asking if Clark really believed that Lex would just leave him alone to die. Well, Lex, you did just look at Clark and run away without saying a word. I'm not sure what else Clark would be thinking. "Oh, Lex ran off. I'm sure he left to get a pipe to help get these rocks off of me." Lex could have at least mentioned something to Clark about being right back to help, or something to indicate otherwise. I'm sure he planned it out to make it seem like Clark was bad and evil to think that Lex would just leave him there to die.
Did anyone else think it was hilarious that the roof just randomly collapsed on Clark while Lex was rambling on and on? I mean, Clark is just lying there, and the roof only right above him just falls apart right on top of him. LOL... I think it's hilarious. Though, I did think that it was awesome that Clark told Lex that Lana told Clark on her wedding day that she was going to leave Lex. Finally, Clark had the upper-hand on Lex concerning Lana. That hasn't happened in a while. (It seems.) Lex's face was interesting when Clark asked why Lex forced Lana to marry him. I could just see Lex wondering what exactly Clark meant. "Well, I did fake a pregnancy to make her marry me... but how would you know about that?" Lex's response was actually honest. "I don't know." It was Lionel's fault! Lionel! Evil, evil Lionel...
Speaking of Lionel... what the heck?? I loved Lana's interrogation the end. "First you threaten to kill Clark if I don't marry Lex and now you're telling me that you're protecting him? What the [heck] is going on?" (probably paraphrased) I really did LOL when Lana said that. Lana's love is the only way to keep Clark safe from harm and Lex close to Lana. Umm... hm. What could Lionel possibly be protecting Clark from? Getting himself hurt from Lex if Lana left Lex for Clark? That's the only thing that I can think of. Lionel claimed that he didn't know about Lana's fake pregnancy at the time that he threatened Clark's life for Lana to marry Lex. Let's go check... okay. So Lionel ruined everyone's lives at 1:35-ish. Lex killed Doctor Langston around 5:00 before his wedding. I guess it was when Lionel followed Lex and saw that he had killed Lana's doctor that he found out... somehow? Oh, the stupid timing. Is Lionel saying that he wouldn't have stopped Lana from leaving Lex if he had known about the fake pregnancy then? I doubt it.
Lana. Lana, Lana, Lana. Lana, you are awesome. I knew when she was trying to get in the room to talk to Lionel she was faking. When she said to Lionel "I understand you're in a lot of pain," I said, "Good!!" and then shortly thereafter, Lana echoed me! "Good." That was freaking awesome. All of this contempt and hatred towards Lionel was just spewing out of Lana. I told you! "If I killed you right now, I'd be free." Yeah, you would be!! But, of course, it would very depressing to see Lionel get killed. Who else would be there to screw up everyone's lives? Then this would just be like normal life where everything works out perfectly. (Because that's just how life is.) It would be boring. (Maybe) Though, you know, I don't know how the second interrogation scene between Lionel and Lana ended. "Wow. I can tell you've truly embraced what it means to be a Luthor." (paraphrased) "Yup, sure have. Have a wonderful day!" and then Lana leaves? No. What happened? Lana still didn't get her answer and just stormed out? I want to see how these scenes end!! *sigh* In real life you can't just move on to another scene when you don't know how to end it un-awkwardly.
Oh... Lana did an awesome job shoving Lex's gigantic baby-lie in his face at the end of the episode. "I know how much you loved our baby. We were going to be the best parents in the world." Lex's expression during that entire conversation was priceless. You can just tell that he was trying so hard to read what Lana was really thinking. His initial expression to Lana's first response was pretty obvious: "Lana is making up an excuse as to why she said she was going to leave me for Clark, how frustrating." But his expression changed as Lana went on and on about how much Lex loved his fake baby. "Oh cravitz... this is a fake baby she thinks I loved so much. Oh cravitz... does she know I faked the pregnancy?" Teehee... I loved it. "If someone lied to me like that they'd lose my love forever." Another wards, you've lost my love forever, Lex. Way to go. And then to end with, "I don't know what I did to deserve you." SLAM! Oh man... I can't wait to see where all of this goes.
Though, I'm not sure I completely understand what Lana's reason was for talking to Clark on their wedding day. She could feel something was wrong with the baby, and she thought that Lex wouldn't love her anymore if he knew that the baby wasn't okay? That sounds like a pretty lame excuse to me. I suppose that explains Lex's initial expression to her lame excuse. But the way that she just kept going on and on about how much Lex loved their baby was freakin' awesome... oh... right. I already went on about that. On to another rant.
Clana, it will never die! Why must the writers put us through so much with them? Why can't they just be together and be happy? Oh, that would be boring. Boring, boring boring. Lana would have been content with Lex dying in those tunnels. He's definitely not her favorite person in the world right now. Despite the fact that he's, you know, her husband and everything. Lana seems to be kind of like Clark was back in Combat. She's all angry and ruthless. That combined with what she's learned from Lex's evil ways makes an awesome Lana. Mwhahaha! I wonder if Chloe is going to tell Clark that it seems apparent that Lana has finally figured out Clark's secret. "But he's going to be okay, right? I mean he's... he's Clark." Probably not. Those kind of things seem to go unnoticed. We'll just have to see. But, anyhow, back to Clana. I absolutely love the moment they shared after Lana saw him alive and well. She looks at his arm, and he grabs her hand and she leans in close holding his hand. Clark's lips got within inches of Lana's forehead. And then Lex appears out of the smoke and ruins everything. Lana has to put on her act and run towards him like any worried wife would do. I don't think I would be able to put up an act like Lana has. I would have just kissed Clark and told him to super speed me away!! Heh... or not. I'm not sure. It doesn't matter! In fact, none of this really matters, but I like to pretend that it does.
Okay, something that I didn't quite understand. How does Lex think that Lana led the rescue crew and everyone out to where the only other exit was? She had to have gotten into the briefcase that she gave back to him that she pretended to not have. It doesn't seem like they touch on Lex wondering about that. He seemed too preoccupied by Clark telling him that Lana was going to leave him, I suppose.
I think I've rambled enough. I think I could probably keep going, but I'll leave it there. On to next week's episode of excitement!
