8.02 - Plastique
What a fun episode! I absolutely loved the little scenes between Clark and Lois. They are just too adorable. We finally met this new guy we saw in the opening sequence, and we still have no sign of Kara or Lex anywhere. Jimmy was oddly missing as well. Oh, and we get yet another "freak of the week." Lucky us. Let's dive in!
When I first saw Clark walking down the steps into the Daily Planet with his flannel shirt and backpack (the same one he used all throughout high school and college--and still seems to be in pristine condition), I couldn't help but think, "Whoa! We've gone back to season 3 or 4! Clark's totally in school again!" Good thing Lois got his a shirt and pants, and luckily this guy randomly had an extra pair that he brought to work that fit Clark so nicely. Clark wasn't even nice enough to keep them clean... he got it all dirty. Never heard anything more from that guy and Lois stealing his shirt. I bet it was expensive! Well, I guess the fact that Clark looked utterly fantastic in it makes up for it. I loved seeing him in that blue (because that's such an odd color for him) and dressed up all nice. I'm still getting used to the fact that he has a job at the Daily Planet, somehow, but I'm getting used to it. Just because of the scenes between him and Lois. Aww, they are just building up to something between them. They've got to follow through. We've had these hints since Lois came to the show back in season 4. We need something from it! Gimme! Gimme!
*ahem* I'm glad Chloe "decided" to finally tell Clark she's freakin' engaged. That was so cute that Davis thought that Chloe was engaged to Clark. Awwwwww! How awesome would that be? Pick a freakin' couple to like, Jephthah. Why? I love them all! I guess I'd be pretty easy to please. Just have everyone be happy with someone. I don't like seeing people feel left out and without a love of their life. It's just... sad.
So, this scene between Chloe and Clark at the end. Clark is really starting to confuse me. Does he really want to be with Chloe? I mean... it's such an interesting situation. "We're more than just friends, Chloe." Really? You didn't say that in season 4! Yeah... that was also 4 seasons ago. Just a bit has happened since then. I guess you could say they're best friends. It's hard to explain. It's a... platonic love. That's how wikipedia describes it, anyhow. It's a good description, too. It's a deep love that doesn't seem to ever be romantic. It's actually awesome. Good for them. Though, I guess what one has to wonder is if they really want it to be more. Will Chloe ditch Jimmy and kill Lois so she can take her place and Clark ends up with Chloe in the end? Aww, but then Lois would be dead. That would just be sad. I don't know. We have all gotten used to the idea of Clark and Chloe just not being together. They'll be forever friends. Sure, we've all hoped, but the cloest thing we've had to a hint lately was back in Nemesis when Chloe awkwardly said that she felt like a stalker ex-girlfriend. Which was hilarious... but this is the first thing we've had since then. At least I think so. It's all rather exciting either way. :)
Okay, Lex and Kara... gone forever?? That'd be so beyond depressing. We've got to see Lex and Kara again. Clark can't just ignore the fact that she's freakin' gone. If they wanted her off the show, they could've just had her die somehow so we wouldn't just be hoping she comes back. Just leaving her in the Phantom Zone is cruel. Cruel and heartless. Now Lex, on the otherhand, I'm thinking they are going to bring him back at least a couple times. First of all, he's Superman's freakin' nemesis and he can't be dead. That would like... nullify all of Superman or something. Just wouldn't work. Not to mention just how awesome Lex's character is and how awesome Michael Rosenbaum is. It just seems rather pointless to develop this nemesis character the entire 7 seasons and then the last 8th season to just leave him off right when Clark is being Superman. We want Lex! Now, Kara is pretty lame, too. She was just brought back last season! Now she doesn't exist and nobody cares? Sad day. Bring them back!
Davis, what the heck is he? He is making some awkward tension between him and Chloe, first of all. Not liking that too much about him. Though, I honestly have no idea what was happening to him at the end of the episode. Something was like overtaking him and making him look possessed or something. I really don't get it. Maybe if I knew the comics better or read things about the episodes I would know who and what he's supposed to be, but for now I'll just wait for Smallville to tell me. Yay for waiting!
Speaking of awkward tension, what is up with this new boss of LuthorCorp and Clark? They made them... like each other or something. In fact, it reminded me a lot of when Lex and Clark met. Clark saved Lex's life from a car, and that started their relationship. Clark saved this woman from a bus and jumpstarted their relationship. What is her name again? Tess. That's it. Odd. I'm not too sure what they are going to do with her and Clark. She already is going to start keeping an eye on him. We'll see if she sees anything interesting!
So, to sum up I'm hoping we see some of Kara, Lex, and some Jimmy next episode. With some sort of explanation as to who and what Davis is. Oh, and some Clois moments are always appreciated as well. :) Let's see!
