Smallville Ramblings

9.03 - Rabid

Zombies? Seriously? When this episode first started I was intrigued as to why Clark was just waking up and who the "her" was that Oliver lost and why the city seemed asleep. Clark runs to get Lois, and I'm excited to see another scene with the two of them in it, and then Lois turns around and... she's a zombie? AHH! Smallville... zombies. Smallville--Zombies? Very interesting, indeed. Though, I still enjoyed the episode. It was just quite creepy at times. Many times.

I wonder how many people were killed in this zombie busniness. Or would they just get bitten, pass out, and then wake up zombies and bite other people? Then when the antidote rained on the city everyone was healed. Sure. One of the most terrifying thoughts to me is the idea of humans wanting to eat other humans... like zombies. Terrifying. That would be an absolutely terrible way to die. What's creepy to me is that Lois had all this blood on her mouth when Clark found her. That must mean that she actually took a good bite out of at least one person, right? Or do they just put blood on everyone's mouth that is a zombie for the effect? They must put it on everyone because even Tess has blood on her mouth and she had just woken up and turned into a zombie. It doesn't make much sense to me, but... whatever. Somehow when the rain came down and healed Lois she looked completely fine with no blood anywhere. It's a good thing, too. I would hate to snap out of being a zombie to taste all this blood in my mouth. Ugh! This is very unpleasant to ramble about. I'll move on.

I'm glad to see that Oliver is finally getting back on track and realizing how stupid he was being. I thought it was funny when he and Lois were in the elevator and Clark and Lois were sharing a moment (lovely), and then he said, "Okay. Good luck, Clark" with this sarcastic tone. Apparently it bothered him to see Lois and Clark sharing a moment. You had your chance Oliver. I did enjoy you and Lois' relatioship while it lasted, but you know that she's destined to be with Clark. It's just the way it is. Not to mention that I say so. When I decide on something it must happen. I did think it was a little funny that all it took was Oliver to look in the mirror to realize he was in bad shape. I guess it might have been that Lois said something, and she obviously still means something to Oliver. Good thing Lois doesn't care. She fell asleep during his little speech... and then turned into a zombie. Quite an odd thing to do when someone is professing their feelings to you.

I absolutely loved the interactions with Lois and Clark when they were talking about the Blur. Clark acted like he was jealous, which he probably is to an extent. I bet he's also enjoying that she feels the same way he does... except towards the Blur. Well, and for Clark. Ahh! This is exactly how a Superman show should be! The love triangle between Lois, Clark, and Superman. Or, in this case, the Blur. I was thinking about it, and I really like the way that Smallville is taking on Superman. It makes more sense this way. For once, Smallville actually makes sense! Lois isn't blind to the fact that Clark and Superman look the same with the only difference being glasses. No one has even seen the Blur because he's... a blur. Lois still talks to him, but through the phone with a voice changer so she can't recognize his voice. I always wondered about that in the Lois and Clark TV show. I've been watching a lot of that lately. Dean Cain's voice is rather unique. I would think that would be a dead giveaway to Lois just because they talk the same way. But yes, in Smallville it makes sense. There's no reason she would think it was Clark. And he is gone for such a short period of time that Lois doesn't suspect anything. Ahh, it feels nice to have a secure storyline, Smallville.

Anyway, back to Lois and Clark's interactions in this episode. I think it's interesting that Clark has chosen not to call Lois as the Blur anymore. It would be rather disappointing as Lois to suddenly have the calls stop. Clark was calling her quite often to fill the void. Now that void is being filled by working together. Though, he's decided not to for some reason. Maybe just as an experiment to see how she reacted? Either way, I think it's about time to call her as the Blur. Hmm... I just remembered that he had told her something that he had her promise to not tell anyone else in Savior. Was that something that she maybe needed time to think about? I wonder if we'll ever know what it was.

One thing was obvious in this episode, though. Clark and Lois are in LOVE! The looks they gave each other. The moments they shared fighting zombies. How romantic. I enjoyed the scene when Lois basically told Clark that she loved the Blur. A lot. More than she's loved anyone. So, if you combine the love that she has for the Blur with the love she has for Clark, you have... a lot of love. Oh boy. It's so fantastic! You know what else was fantastic? The scene after Lois was cured from being a zombie and they were just hugging closely in the rain. So sweet! Clark should just tell her his secret and then they can get married and live happily ever after. Of course I know she can't know his secret just yet. As soon as she knows the series would have to end pretty soon. Chloe and Lana had to find out themselves. Clark has never really willingly told someone his secret. They have just found out and then he has to explain himself. Well, besides when he told Lana in Reckoning. But, then he went back in time and changed it. Doesn't count. Lois is bound to found out on her own somehow. That will be a fantastic episode. I'm looking forward to it. Maybe in the unbelievable season 10 coming up. Or maybe it happens later in season 9 that I haven't seen yet. Probably not.

Chloe is spying on Oliver and the crew? That's quite odd. Her logic actually makes sense, though. They are all having issues not being together and Oliver is obviously not doing a good job taking care of himself. Speaking of Oliver, why on earth did he burn his suit? I thought he was getting better. How is avoiding being the Green Arrow being a better person and seeing the light? I'm quite confused by that. Anyway, I'm sure that Clark or Oliver will find out that Chloe is watching them and then get mad at her. Though, from her watching them I'm sure it'll be useful somehow and she'll prove them wrong. Chloe usually makes good choices. Good ol' Chloe.

Zod's minion unleashed this disease on humanity. Good for him. Because of it Zod now knows that Clark exists. Somehow through having his blood they can track him. I'm not getting that one yet, but I guess we'll find out how that'll happen. I don't like the fact that they think he's stealing their powers, though. I don't know why they don't have their powers. It's not Clark's fault, though. I don't know how they'll kill him or do anything to him when they find him, though. Unless they still have Metallo at their disposal and have a threat through him. Interesting thoughts, indeed.

I think this'll do for now. On to the next episode. As long as there aren't any zombies and there's more Clois action, I won't be disappointed.
