Green Arrow is back! I'm so glad to see Oliver back in his game. Chloe came through in an interestingly effective way. Clark and Lois had their first real "fight" (as far as I'm concerned). A good episode in that Oliver is feeling better about himself, though other than that I'm a bit disappointed that both Jimmy and Lex are still dead. And Lionel. And Martha. Well, basically Martha. And Jonathan. Okay, fine. I'm getting out of hand. But seriously, I'm just waiting for the episode when Jimmy and/or Lex come back to life somehow. They have to, right? First of all, Lex has to be alive to ultimately be Clark's nemesis, and Jimmy has to be alive to make Chloe happy again. Alright, let's go ahead and move to a new paragraph because that's just the way I am.
I had a flashback to Mercy in season 5 when Lionel and Martha were being tortured in some "game." I'm sure that's what we were supposed to think as well. Though, I couldn't think of that many people that Oliver had hurt in his business. He's not as ruthless as Lionel and Lex in the business world. When she kept asking, "Who have you hurt?" all I could think of was Lex. Well, and Jimmy. Though, he didn't directly cause that at all. I was really getting excited that Lex was somehow back to life and was punishing Oliver for... well, killing him. And because he's always had a grudge against Oliver and his crew as we learned way back in Reunion. Though that never seemed to quite fit in my mind since I doubt Lex's first priority after coming back from the dead would be to get at Oliver. I think it would be something related to Clark or Lana, since that's what he did in Requiem. I really thought that Lex would be in that coffin at the beginning as well. I was hoping, at least. It didn't make any sense whatsoever, but that never stops me from doubting what Smallville does.
I was so glad to see Clark come home to see Lois "home" with laundry. She just looks at him and says, "It's about time you're home!" Yes... as if that house is their home. Last I checked, Lois actually lives above the Talon with Chloe, right? But, she felt the need to come to Clark's house and spend the night watching movies and doing laundry. That's such a married thing to do together. That's how my husband and I do our laundry. We wash our clothes and then watch a movie while folding them. Granted, I never saw either of them actually doing anything with all the laundry everywhere, though I suppose that's beside the point. I was kind of hoping something would happen, but instead Clark felt really awkward because he really wanted to be out saving lives or whatnot, which I suppose is more important than spending time with Lois. I suppose. I just wish he could have felt comfortable spending time with Lois. Oh well.
Then what happened next was sad and yet somewhat reassuring. They both go on a trip (how fun!) to check on Oliver, and then for some reason Oliver decided to leave this random video of him kind of committing suicide on his laptop that Lois somehow knows the password to, so naturally Lois watches it. She gets all concerned because he was willing to give his life, and then sees that Clark knew and gets all mad at him. Now, we get to witness their first real fight! Lois was honestly hurt that Clark would lie to her face about something this serious. This wasn't like him "forgetting" to pick her up from the airport, or standing her up at the Monster Truck Rally... she was really hurt. The only way she would be that hurt is because they truly care a lot about each other, and she couldn't believe that someone she cared so much about, and who seems to care a lot for her as well, would lie to her face. Now, I'm somewhat on her side since I don't see a good reason for Clark to hide that from Lois. I mean, maybe it was to protect her or something? Everyone knew he was in bad shape, it's not like she didn't know that. Maybe it would be suspicious as to why Clark would still be in the building anyway? Well, not as much, since he's Clark. He likes to solve everyone's problems and such. Now, on the other hand, I wasn't sure why she was so mad in the first place. I think that was a problem--I don't think I had really thought about how bad it really was that Oliver was willing to step off the pressure plate. I just thought he was trying to take one for the team, but if he was really willing to stay alive, he would have stayed there until someone came to disarm the bomb. Instead, he was so depressed about being a murderer and such, that he was willing to blow himself up. Rather depressing. So, I'm definitely on Lois's side. What was Clark thinking?
So, I guess the point I was trying to make with that previous paragraph was that it was somewhat heartbreaking to see Lois actually mad at Clark for something (and not just teasing him), but it means that their relationship has reached a new level if she can even be that mad at him. He looked so hurt, too. He knew he really hurt her by lying and he felt terrible about it. Good, Clark. Next episode you can both kiss and make up. :) I wonder how mad she'll still be at him next episode...
I agree with Oliver. Clark does look ridiculous in that outfit. He needs some color. Maybe he'll actually get some soon. Oliver offered to make him an outfit! Wouldn't that be fun to see! Oliver could make him a leather red and blue suit! That just sounds ridiculously funny. I want to see it.
I'm glad Chloe could make Oliver realize that he still is worth something, but goodness. That was rather intense. Granted, I'm not sure how else to really get to him, but I just wouldn't have expected that. How did she get those people to help her? Where did that lady come from? How did she get random policemen (or whoever) to go with her? Why did this lady get so offended by Lois looking at Oliver's car (it still was Oliver's car) and then decide to bring her into all of this? It seems like that was just to make things more exciting. I was really getting worried that some old sparks might light up between Lois and Oliver since they kind of got that look in their eyes at the end, but I think she's too attached to Clark at the moment. Also... it seems like there is something possibly brewing between Chloe and Oliver. The way that he grabbed her hand and expressed his appreciation for saving his life...that's certainly interesting. I don't really like it because she is still getting over Jimmy, for sure. And, her and Jimmy are meant to be together. When he comes back to life, he'll expect to come and live happily ever after with Chloe. I'm looking forward to it. But, it will be ruined if Chloe is somehow with Oliver. Hm. I suppose he's a pretty good guy. It wouldn't be too terrible. I'm just really still hoping for Jimmy to somehow come back. He's got to.
This is fun. I like being back in Smallville world. It's nice knowing that I have loads of new episodes waiting to be watched, too! How exciting! Until the next rambling!
