Smallville Ramblings

7.11 - Siren

This episode rocked. It's my favorite of the season so far, and I have a feeling it's just going to get better. That's what happened with season 6. Hydro happened and then most of the episodes from then on were absolutely awesome. This episode... was great. I think it's my favorite so far of the hero introductory episodes. Yeah, Run was good, and I liked all the rest of them, but this just made me feel happy inside. Good feelings abound.

First of all, it was awesome to see Oliver again. Lois obviously still cares about him and everything. I was getting worried when she seemed so serious about Julian/Grant, but apparently that was her way of trying to move past Oliver. Good times. Though, it's not so good times that they couldn't work it out. It kind of makes it hard to believe that Clark will ever tell her his secret when he saw her react this way. There's no way she would accept Clark as a freakin' alien from Krypton with super human abilities if she has a hard time with Oliver, who is just a human who does amazing things. It's a good thing that Clark is with someone like Lana who is okay with keeping Clark back from his greater destiny to save the world. Though, there is something that I don't quite get. When she was suspecting that Oliver was Green Arrow, I remember her saying that she could have heard that Oliver was from Mars, and she'd be able to dismiss it as an endearing quirk. Now she finally knows, and it's not okay? I guess she never really thought about the whole scope of things before? I don't know... either way, it's really sad. She really can get it to work out with them. Sure, he'll be out of town a lot doing his thing, but she can still be at his side when he's not busy. What's the big deal in that? I want to see Lois happy with a guy for once. Actually, she should just finally be with Clark. Lana can die for real, and then Lois can hook up with Clark. Yes. They are supposedly going to be together when Clark becomes Superman, so let's just get it over with. Enough of this drama. Let's just let people be happy, and Lana can die.

So, Black Canary. I like this girl. First of all, she was able to admit it when she was wrong and join the good guys. Second of all, her make up on he eyes look freakin' awesome. Third of all, she made Clark's ears bleed. Okay, so that doesn't exactly make me like her... but it seemed necessary to include in the list anyhow. It's kind of funny how his ears are bleeding like that, and he's so obviously in a lot of pain... but nothing seemed to come of it. No mention or anything. It would have been cool if Chloe had walked in at that moment and seen blood running from his ears. Then we could have seen Chloe all concerned about Clark. Or, perhaps Lois or Lana. Either way, that would have been cool. But, that's okay. It was awesome when Black Canary kicked Clark and he just kind of got budged a little bit and she went flying back. Ha! That was great! "That's what you get for trying to kick me, silly girl." So, obviously the next thing to do is to scream at him with your subsonic vocals. I suppose she was just out of things to do and figured she might as well try. Whatever.

Aww... I just got reminded of another scene. I loved it when Clark first came to see Oliver, and the first words out his mouth were, "You put Chloe in danger!" Umm, yeah Clark. Like Oliver said, you could try a "hello" or "Hey, what's going on? Haven't seen you in a while!" But, no. I loved seeing Clark all freakin' out about Chloe being in danger, though. He had a really concerned look when he first realized that she was hurt. Clark, you so obviously care about her a lot. Not to mention she was able to tell when you weren't yourself. Did Lana? No. She fails at life. Kill her, make it look like an accident and then hook up with Chloe. Go ahead and just change her name to Lois Lane just to keep it consistent with what people expect to happen later. Though, if you do that you'll have to kill Lois to not make it confusing... hmm... problem. You know, maybe I should try to keep these more on the topic of the episode. Eh... these are ramblings. I have the excuse to go off on tangents and just type what I'm thinking. So, on to the next tangent.

So, Lex got stabbed with a dagger. I'm sure Clark could have deflected the dagger and saved Black Canary. In the time that he took realizing what was going on, he could have ran and done both. Just remember back to Jinx in season 4 when he basically stopped time and ran to save Chloe and was still able to run back to where he was in the game without anyone noticing. I think he just didn't want to save Lex. Tsk, tsk, Clark. I'm sure we won't see any evidence of Lex being impaled by a dagger for next week's episode, either. Silly Smallville.

"I stole a Lamborghini." No, Clark. You didn't. You stole the money to buy the Lambourgini and then took the girl selling it along with you. I guess it's kind of like the same thing... but whatever. Maybe he was explaining how he stole the Lambourghini when he said that he broke into a bank of ATM machines and stole all the money. Though, I loved the fact that Clark telling Lana all of the bad things he's done made her happy. "Aww, that's so sweet. You stole a Lamborghini and and broke into a bank of ATM machines..." Honestly, I loved that scene. A lot. Finally they have a chance. If Clark just stopped acting like an idiot and gave Lana a chance... it can work out perfectly. She's trying so hard to change her ways for him, and he wasn't even noticing. At least now he's trying to save the relationship. "I don't want this to be over." Yay! We'll see if it really is over by the end of the season. If it does end at the end of the season, I hope that it's because Lana found Clark making out with Lois or something. Mwhahaha!

Okay, we'll have a paragraph of scene analysis. So, Lionel walked in to see Lana as she was signing her name as "Lana Lang." She's dropped the Luthor name, and is trying to drop the Luthor attributes. Unfortunately, people are having a hard time seeing how much she's trying and that she really is a good person. Lionel comes in and tries to get Lana to realize that she's this terrible person, right after she signed her name as "Lana Lang." It's actually like Lex. Even when he tries to be good, people seem to assume that he's got some ulterior motive and would never do anything nice just to be nice. Granted, his track record is a lot worse than Lana's, but I'm sure he goes through the same thing Lana is going through right now. Other people have a harder time accepting someone as a changed person, than it is for someone to change themselves. Lana is earnestly trying, and it's taking a while for people to accept it. I just hope that it doesn't somehow end up with her going back to Lex from Clark. Honestly... that'd be so sad. I'd rather see her die. Okay... maybe I'll stop talking about her death. Maybe.

That Clois scene at the end of the episode... ROCKED! I think that's the first time that Lois has really poured out her soul to Clark, and just cried in front of him. Not only that, but she was able to explain to him why it was so hard for Lana and what a lucky guy he is that she's accepted to be in his life. Way to go. That, and I loved that hug. He was rubbing her back the whole time... aww. I think that's something I want to do before I die. I want to get a hug from Tom Welling like he gives in Smallville. That would be freakin' awesome, and so comfy. Anyway, I also loved Lois' comment at the end of that scene. "Besides, why settle for hot, rich and famous when I can hang out with you?" Aww... I hope they hook up by the end of the season. Especially since this is rumored to be the last season of Smallville, it actually makes sense that it would end with them together to just tie into the whole Superman timeline. Yes, I'm hoping. (Just in case you hadn't caught on by now.)

I really hope Kara and/or Jimmy are in the next episode. Seriously, I miss seeing them. I need an explanation for where Kara is, and I just like seeing what's going on with Jimmy. Not to mention he finally knows about Chloe... it almost seemed like things were going to work out between them. But, no. Apparently it was just a cue for him not to be in an episode for a while. *rolls eyes* Anyway, I'm hoping, yet again, that they are in next episode. *crosses fingers*

Okay, I think that'll end this wonderfully exciting Smallville Rambling. Tune in next episode--oh, right. It's already aired. Well, I haven't seen it yet. So, tune in after I've seen the new episode to read the rambling for that. I'm sure it'll be just as thrilling as this rambling.
