6.09 - Subterranean
A new episode after a break! I liked it overall. They managed to have yet another FOTW that they haven't done before. What exactly what his power? I guess he could bury himself in the ground and move around like the movie Tremors? (anyone see that movie?) Whatever, it was kind of interesting to watch. I was quite pleased to see Lana hasn't answered Lex yet. You know what that shows? She doesn't care about him as much as she still cares (or cared) for Clark. She may be hiding her feelings now, but she at least told Clark yes in "Reckoning." You can tell that she has her doubts about her relationship with Lex. I still think that she's recovering from losing Clark. Maybe. I can't really decide. But what I do know is that I'm happy she hasn't told Lex anything definitive yet. I thought for sure she would say yes since she's done everything else I thought she wouldn't do. Which, I guess she did just that in this case too. Heh. That's so funny...
I liked Javier. He had such a cute face. I wonder how old he was supposed to be. Fifteen? Seventeen? I'm not sure. It was kind of unbelievable that he would be so fluent in English without a thick accent. Actually, hardly any accent at all. Whatever, it was fine. It was so cute when Jimmy talked to him for the first time. That's was so Jimmy-esque. Awww, his character is so adorable. Chloe is too good for him. Though, they are kind of cute together. Yet again, in this episode when she was confronted with the question of Jimmy being her "boyfriend" she never really said yes or no. That also made me happy. There's still a chance for Chlark! (Clark and Chloe) Though, if Chloe and Jimmy aren't boyfriend and girlfriend, then they are really good friends. I didn't think that most friends make out and go on dates on a regular basis. Whatever. That's just Chloe, I guess. Aww, I love Chloe. :)
Lex was so awesome in this episode! First of all, I loved it when Clark walked in and the first thing he said was, "I thought I told you you were no longer a welcome guest at the mansion." Doesn't he let people into the mansion? Like, don't they send him a message saying so-and-so is at the door, is he allowed in? I guess he let him in just to see what he had to say so he could verbally abuse him. Teehee, that's so Lex-like. His demeanor changes so much whenever he's around Lana and other people. It's incredible. Jekyll and Hyde, right there. Speaking of Lex and awesome scenes, the last scene. Holy cravitz! That was one of the coolest scenes ever! Lex has the whole "I'm awesome and evil" strut down! The music fit perfectly too! You know, one of these days Lana has got to see something that shows that Lex does in fact lie to her. And it's not like the Clark type of lying where it's to protect her and it's actually a manifestation of Clark's love to her that he doesn't share his secret with her, but Lex is just doing things that are plain evil and not sharing it with Lana. He's just... he... he... he's so evil! I love it so much! :D
The "fight" scene between Clark and the FOTW (I forget his name now) was ultra-lame. They didn't show anything. It was just, "Whoa! Clark suddenly got sucked into the ground! Whoa! He just popped back up victorious!" Heh. But that's okay. I'm sure they have a budget and of course a time limit. They didn't have the time to show an entire elaborate fight scene. But, I still have the right to say it was lame. Yup, I sure do.
Something that I hated so much was the scene between Clark and Lana. First of all, Clark is way to accusatory of Lex and Lana's relationship. Which I can understand since it really hurts him to see them together. I can get past that. But then Lana is so rude to Clark! She takes everything he says in the wrong way and then turns it around on him like it's all his fault. When Clark said "I didn't mean it like that" she had the nerve to retort with "That's exactly what you meant." Ummm, Lana? You can't tell someone what they mean or don't mean when they say something. Clark is trying to be nice and you shove it into his face and then walk away as if you won the conversation. No. That's not quite it. You know, their conversation was going pretty well at first. It made me happy to see then talking somewhat normally. Then Lana ruins it and makes Clark feel terrible. Though, he was a little harsh by making Lana out as Lex's "puppet."
Oh yeah, Lana shares her realization to Lex about how money is more than a luxury, it's power. NOO! Lana! It's just another sign that she's turning to the dark side with Lex. Though, actually when you think about it, when you have money it does give you a lot of power. But, power isn't what's important in life. Sure, you can get a lot of things that you can't get without money, but the money that Lex has is from cheating people and ruining other people's lives. It's just...not right. Why is Lana so blind sometimes? At least she's still trying to do some good in the world with what she has right now. If only she could see that her current boyfriend is the spawn of all evil.
Anyhow, I think that this was a pretty good episode. Sure, it was a kind of rip off of Tremors, but there were some great scenes in it. There's quite a long break until the next episode. According to my sources, we have to wait until January 11, 2007. So, I look forward to that!
