8.03 - Toxic
This episode was rather interesting. We get to "see" more of Oliver and Tess's past, with some fun Clois and Chlark moments along the way. Not too shabby. Let's dive in.
First of all, I loved the first little bit between Clark and Chloe. "I'm surprised that Lois unattached you from her hip..." Wow, that's awesome. Chloe, and I'm sure other people, noticed that they now have to spend a bunch of time together working side by side at the Daily Planet. It was somewhat bittersweet, though. "I just thought I would be the one circling your typos." Aww... some of us wish the same thing, Chloe. Then again, it's fun with Lois too. I just love everyone!
So when Oliver first got poisoned... was it from the champagne he drank? I don't think it was something from the limo because he would've felt something sooner. I say look into the person who served him that champagne. I guess he recognized the symptoms. It's a good thing he was able to tell Clark that. Otherwise he would've out of luck. Any sensible person would've taken him to the hospital. Though... was that really 12 hours? That seriously seemed like a quick 12 hours. I suppose it doesn't really matter in the long run since he survived and everything turned out alright in the end.
Okay, so we got no follow up on Davis. What and who the heck is he and what makes him important enough to be in the opening credits? He's got something special about him... and they are putting some tension between him and Chloe just for the fun of it. I'm still wondering what happened to Kara. And Jimmy. He's freakin' engaged to Chloe and in the opening credits and we didn't see any of him. Wait a second, Lois mentioned a killer on the loose with a murder rampage. Does that have anything to do with Davis? Perhaps? I'm sure they included that for a reason. We'll hopefully find out soon enough.
We were able to get a nice little back story on Oliver Queen for those people who didn't watch the Queen Chronicles or whatever that was called they had a few seasons back. I was confused at first. Was he just in this place in his head? It seems remarkably similar to his real back story of being trapped on an island... then it made sense. Oh... this is him reliving it in his mind. Or something. And for whatever reason Tess was there too. What the heck... she seemed so nice. What happened? How did she replace Lex? We really need to see Lex again. Superman without a Lex Luthor, especially one played by Michael Rosenbaum, just shouldn't happen. Though, I have to admit, I'm starting to like her character. A strong evil woman figure it always fun to watch. She really is doing a good job of seeming nice and yet being evil, very much like Lex. Though it's not like she's copying, I still feel someone fresh. She's got her own spin on things, and then is doing the same type of thing. Very well done, in my opinion. We'll just see exactly how evil she is and if she'll ever redeem herself.
Okay, seriously... where the heck is Kara? I'm really starting to worry. If they just decided to forget her character in the Phantom Zone and decide that they could just whip her out with whatever lame reason they want to come up with later... that is incredibly sad. At least have some characters mention that they miss her and wonder when she'll come back. At least point a mention of her would at least make me somewhat satisfied. Don't leave us hanging... that's just rude. Especially in the last season when you just introduced her character last season.
Aww... Clark and Lois reacted the same way to helping Oliver. Both freaked out and just wanted to bring him to a hospital despite what he said. Chloe had to convince them and succeeded both times. Good for her. Aww, and when Clark put his hand on Lois's shoulder when she was upset about Oliver. That was so sweet. :)
So Clark finally knows that Chloe has inherited some of Brainiac's brains. That's good. I just hope it doesn't make her like evil or something. That would be depressing. Every time we think he's dead, he just comes back. Though, Lana was healed and such... he's got to be gone for sure this time. Just... somehow Chloe was able to lose her healing power and get really smart instead. It is rather convenient to be really smart. I'm sure it makes it nice for the writers. "Now how do they figure that out? Well, Chloe can figure anything out. She'll do it." That's great.
So what exactly happened with Tess? She's apparently some genius or something. She must have had something that made her turn evil like Lex... and become associated with the Luthors. Kind of interesting that we didn't hear of her at all until now. I guess that's just how things go. I'm still kind of depressed by the fact that Lionel is dead and Lex is basically gone. That's just, like I said, depressing. Lex has got to come back sometime since they mention him. It's Kara I'm really worried about since people are just pretending that she never existed.
Oliver and Lois better not hook up again. It's got to be Clark and Lois. It's got to be. Oliver can't ruin it... they did break up though, right? Well, so did Lana and Clark. That never lasted too long. Blech. They must've revived their little relationship for a while for some reason. Or maybe just to make it more interesting. Blech, I feel like I don't know what I'm talking about. Let's move on.
What we thought would be a dilemma, turned out to be nothing at all. Clark goes to talk to Tess about getting the antidote, and she says there's no way to get to the lab in time. Then Clark magically gets it in time? Don't you think Tess might start getting a little suspicious? Clark just brushes it off with, "There was a Queen Industries lab nearby." Uh, good one. That's really believable. I'm thinking that'll help fan the flame of Tess's urge to figure Clark out. The fun problem of figuring him out. We'll see how much she figures out!
Oliver found out that Lionel killed his parents. I'd say that'd be rather depressing. I guess Clark knew because of all that Traveler business. He knew that Lionel had killed everyone else. I didn't even think about telling Oliver. What the heck. You know that when Clark did tell him, if he did, Oliver's response would be, "Why didn't you tell me sooner??" That's always the response. Better just not to tell until he finds out, I'm thinking. Okay, maybe not... but it sure makes sense that he wouldn't want to tell him. Granted, it does seem like something Oliver would want to know. Eh, I'm just hoping this doesn't drive Oliver into some kind of rage. They had to bring that into the episode for some reason. Hmm...
Okay, my brain is really not focusing very well. The sporadic semi-short paragraphs are very evident of that. :P Let's just wait until the next episode and party until then!
