7.15 - Veritas
I think this episode wins for making me feel the most depressed. Well... no, that's not true. That would be Hypnotic from season 5 after Clark and Lana broke up. I felt pretty depressed after that episode, too. But, anyway. This episode. Holy cravitz on a stick. I think it's worse for Lana to be a catatonic Brainiac-possessed zombie than for her to just be dead. But, I'll get to that sadness later. What else happened in this episode? We had Lois and Jimmy adventures, Lionel is trying to warn everyone but they are all in the mindset that he's evil, Lex really is evil, Brainiac is being his usual evil self, and Kara tries to get Clark to fly. Let's begin.
So Lois and Jimmy are starting to work together. I guess we've seen hints of that throughout. Like when Jimmy got her photos of Green Arrow without realizing that it was Lois. (That was good times) It was pretty entertaining to see. I loved it when we see Lois at her desk "working" and all she's got is an empty article with the title, "BIG COOL HEADLINE HERE." That looks like something I would do if I got into Journalism. It was also pretty hilarious when they just decided to bombard Lionel. It actually reminded me a lot of Noir when Jimmy saw Lois and Lex kissing and then popped out and snapped a picture with a gigantic flash. They just rush into his office and Jimmy snaps all these pictures and Lois tries to force answers out of him. Did they honestly think that that was going to work? "Oh my goodness! I did kill her! Oh my goodness! Did I just say that? Get out of my office! Crap!" Yes... that sounded very Lionel-esque. Though when they mentioned evidence that would point the murder to him, he kind of acted guilty when he just told them to leave. Why didn't he bring that evidence he tried to give to Lana and show it to Clark or Chloe? Honestly? It pretty much proved him innocent... then they might have listened to him and then prevented whatever terrible thing is going to happen.
Speaking of some terrible thing, I wonder what Lionel is trying to warn Clark of. This whole thing seems very familiar. The end of season 5? Maybe? I guess that was pretty cataclysmic with the whole world going into chaos and everything. I suppose it has something to do with Brainiac, and Clark is vulnerable right now because Lana is...not quite herself. I'm just wondering what's going to happen next episode. I hope Lana gets better, honestly. That's just plain sad to see her like that. Kara went with Brainiac...he should make Lana better! Jerk-face. "Kal-El... you're too late, Kal-El." Yeah, that's really what Clark wanted to hear from Lana/Brainiac. So freakin' sad. Anyway, this was a paragraph about Lionel. He was getting really desperate near the end there when he was talking to Chloe. He actually got down on his knees and was literally begging for her to listen to him. "No, I've repented!!" I think him doing that was a sign of him just wanting to help Clark and not wanting some ulterior motive. He would be so much more calm and collected if he had something up his sleeve to come back and get Clark. Now we just need to figure out what it is...
Oh! Kara trying to get Clark to fly! We've got to see him fly sometime before the end of the season... honestly. He's freakin' Superman. He's like what people first think of when people mention a person flying. Superman. Kara's right, Clark. It's so easy! I flew just the other day! It's fun, refreshing, and so much faster than walking. Though, I suppose if you can super-speed, that's not that big of a deal... but whatever. Clark needs to get over his fear. I think he could use Lana to get over his fear. It's like what the Bizarro Clark told Lana at the beginning of Persona when he said that Lana could make him fly. Aww... I could just see some situation when Brainiac takes Lana and starts to fly saying that he would get rid of her once and for all, and Clark gets this look on his face and musters up the courage to fly after him to save Lana. Aww... that'd be so freakin' awesome and sweet. I want to see it. Then not only would be have Lana back (assuming that somehow he got Brainiac to... fix her) but she could be with him when he discovers another ability. Maybe I shouldn't make too many fantasy scenes so I'm not disappointed when they don't happen. Eh, whatever.
So Lex is able to suddenly remember these memories that he had blocked out from his childhood? Why? Maybe we'll find out... maybe we won't. Or perhaps they'll explain it with the fact that they hooked him up to that machine and Clark getting in his head somehow made him remember. Or maybe even Chloe healing him somehow healed his... lost memories? Yeah, that makes less sense. Whatever. What is kind of interesting is that they showed a memory from the day that he came to Smallville with his dad. He should have looked the same as he did in the Pilot, since that was the same day. But... he didn't. Oh well. He did look somewhat similar. I think I like this actor for Lex better than the other kid, anyway. Ouch, that seems kind of harsh. Maybe it's just because of the scene in Fracture when he was smiling at Clark and said he was his best friend. That was so adorable.
I'm wondering why Clark took Lana to the hospital... or whatever that was. I'm pretty sure it was a hospital, but I'm not sure why they decided to put Lana in a white dress near the window with an Angel statue right by her. They obviously can't do anything to make her better, and will only be puzzled as to how she got that way. "Oh, you know, Brainiac got to her." Right, that's good. He should have just kept her at the farm in bed, or something. I don't know. I guess he just wanted to do something with her. It doesn't really matter either way. Maybe there they can monitor what she does so Brainiac wouldn't make her do weird things like hurt herself without raising too much suspicion. Wow, that's a gigantic stretch. You know what, it doesn't really matter.
What does matter? What matters is that there is about to be a new episode that will hopefully answer some questions and bring Lana back to life and perhaps get Clark to fly. That'd be pretty friggin' awesome. So... on to the next episode!
