6.01 - Zod
Overall I really enjoyed this episode. It wrapped up mostly everything you were worried about in the previous episode in a mostly non-cheesy way. When Clark was in the Phantom Zone I was in pain. He was getting hurt so badly and was so helpless! I was glad that Raya was able to help him out, even though I thought for a moment that she was going to betray Clark. That was something I was wondering how they would resolve: getting Clark out of the Phantom Zone. I'm not sure if they covered vey much about the Phantom Zone in the Superman comics and movies and everything, but I thought it was clever of Jor-El to have a sort of "backdoor" for people in his family. He's very smart! Speaking of Jor-El, it was so sweet what he told Martha in the fortress! He couldn't have picked a better person to raise his son... aww! Clark he's not that bad, he's just trying to protect you! Or something.
About the whole Martha/Lois subplot they left open, I thought it was a bit... odd how they decided to resolve it. They just crashed by the fortress and survived? Did Jor-El lead them there somehow? Was Fine bringing them there on purpose? I don't know. It was just a little confusing. I think if that really happened they would have been killed. Though, maybe Jor-El protected them somehow? Jor-El seems to be the outlet for some unexplainable things in Smallville. Whatever, I still love it. *hugs Smallville*
Wow! The fight between Zod/Lex and Clark was awesome! It was maybe just a bit disappointing, but I know that they don't have much time in one episode. They were just flying across Kansas and Clark broke that rock into pieces from Zod/Lex beating the snot out of him! There was so much pain for Clark this episode. But the look that Clark gave Zod/Lex when he said, "My father sends his regards" was freaking awesome. I'm not sure how he knew that would solve all of his problems. Maybe he just figured it was connected with Jor-El, therefore it would get rid of Zod. That makes sense, somewhat. Oh, but Zod! Michael Rosenbaum did such a fantastic job portraying Lex possessed by Zod. The differences were so subtle, and yet so noticeable. There was a look on his face and a tone of his voice that just let you know that it wasn't Lex. I'm not sure how Lana didn't notice it when she first saw him in Vessel. I wonder if they are going to continue the whole Lex/Lana relationship this season. *sigh* Just by saying that, I know that they will. I hope not... it annoys me to no end. But at least Lex attempts to be honest with her. Oh... I wonder if Lex still has the abilities of a Kryptonian! That would certainly add a twist to the show. Oh...something else. When Zod/Lex decided to impale Lana's hand with that pole I was in so much pain for her! That would hurt so badly. Having to pull it out her hand must have taken all the adrenaline she had. But, I shouldn't worry too much since I know that her hand will function perfectly within 5 episodes, if not sooner. After all, she walks fine after having to go through therapy in season 3. :)
Let's see... what else? Oh! Lionel writing Kryptonian after claiming he didn't have a connection with Jor-El anymore. Perhaps he lied? Perhaps he's realized that he can read and write it? I don't know! So many questions! So many opportunities for interesting twists in the show! I can't wait. Hmm... Lionel. I sure hope he doesn't hook up with Martha. I don't mind them being friends, but Martha is so much better than that. Even if Lionel seems to be a "good guy" now. I never know with him. With Jor-El supposedly not inside him anymore, maybe he won't be as nice? I'm not sure! What to expect...
How can I forget the whole Clark/Chloe moment? I have recently become of a fan of them getting together, and Clark finally seems to have realized that he has feelings for Chloe! And then Jimmy, or "James" as he likes to be called now, comes into the picture. Chloe! Chloe! Chloe, open your eyes and go for Clark! It's just so perfect. They have known each other for so long, and she knows his secret and everything. It could work out so well... go for it! The writers have just added yet another triangle into the Smallville universe and I can't wait to see how it ends up.
The ending was fantastic! Now I think we know for sure that we are going to see more of those demons that we saw in the Phantom Zone. I was wondering that when Clark first got thrown back to Earth. I swear I saw about 5 or 6 other little bolts of light come out onto Earth too. I'm positive that they will come back at a later episode, if not next episode.
I'm definitely looking forward to next week.
